Concerned about Tokai Fake - what is my recourse?

Glad to see Diamond is still full of misguided hatred or is that sour grapes because he was never lucky enough to get a real Canadian Tokai.

    canadian tokai love rock fake?

Somehow I find it hard to believe that mahogany bodies with maple caps are lower spec than agathis/sycamore but whatever you say. Just give new buyers a fair shake if they get one of these.

    canadian tokai love rock fake?

Don't look at it as fake. Call it an "unauthorized run" by the Canadian distributor. Apparently, the distributor wanted a better guitar fro his customers and Tokai was too slow in authorizing the changes, so he went ahead and had the guitars made anyway. AFAIK, it wasn't an effort to deceive the...

Tokai Left Handed serial number 0402373 specifications

This should get interesting. Who's got the popcorn?

What Tokai did I just buy?

Go play the guitar and enjoy it. Decide for yourself whether or not it's a good guitar, regardless of it's history. The so-called fakais, as togps calls them, are usually better quality that the equivalent legitimate Korean made Tokai. Personally, I would take an NALS48 Fakai LP copy over the...

What Kind Of Tokai LS is this.

It's not the legitimacy of the Canadian market Tokais that gets on my nerves. It is the holier than thou attitude of the forum's Tokai Police and wannabe eckspurts over the situation. It gets even more annoying anytime they see something that they don't recognize such as the OP's pics and start...

What Kind Of Tokai LS is this.

Pathetic. I am still waiting for one of the so-called eckspurts to come up with a good reason why a distributor would commission, not one model, but an entire line(LP, SG, PRS, RIC and even acoustics) of fakes that are better quality than the originals. On top of that, this was done for not one...

What Kind Of Tokai LS is this.

It might be one that never made it to the west coast then. The only models I have seen were made in either 2004 or 2005. Both runs are different and cover several different models which include at least three Love Rocks(Standard, Studio and Gold Top w/P90s, possibly more but those are all that I...

What Kind Of Tokai LS is this.

Neither the headstock nor the body shape match the "small run of"Canadian only"models". A few pics of a correct "Canadian" model

    Canadian Fake/Bootleg Tokai's

So I guess the only way I can redeem my soul is to take my fine mahogany "fake" Korean Tokai, turn it into kindling, then go out and buy a "legitimate" plywood model. Nahhh, I don't think so.

Six digit SN on Love Rock

Gee, so I guess that I am one of the many who are stuck with a "fake" that is spec'ed better and plays better than the original model( ALS-48 ). I guess I can suffer with that.

Six digit SN on Love Rock

That was fun. So now that the 2005 "NALS-48" with the six digit serial number have supposedly been explained, how about an explanation of the 2004 model with a seven digit serial number? This also includes the NALS-302(LP Studio copy).

Yet another fake, sold by a crook....

How about a "stratocaster" with tape over the logo? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Stratocaster-Candy-Apple-Red-in-Hard-Case_W0QQitemZ300180298084QQihZ020QQcategoryZ2384QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Yet another fake, sold by a crook....

I'm missing all the fun. Each time, as soon as I get here, the questionable auction has already been pulled.

    Cool and Affordable Amps

Mine goes to 20 but I'm thinking of getting it modded so it goes to 30.

    Mystery Tokai

That sounds like an NALS48. Korean made for the North American market. The first two digits of the serial number should be the year.

    Mystery Tokai

All the NALS LRs that I've seen have the same stamp that I posted. A quick search of the Tokai Registry shows a serial number listed with each NALS guitar.

    Mystery Tokai

Read it again, it should say "Make in Korea" like this: I just noticed that "license" is also misspelled.

    Mystery Tokai

A 2004 model located in Toronto, my guess would be an NALS48. Is there writing on the back of the headstock that says "Make In Korea"?

Don't have the article but here is the picture: If I remember correctly, the top pic is a Les Paul Standard while the bottom is either a Gibson Custom Shop or Heritage model.
