    Pickup change?

Just noticed that this thread was originally from yonks ago, but I'll pretend not to notice the grave-dig of others. I just used a five-way switch in my Tele with a P-Rails at the neck. The P-Rails in humbucker mode is wired in parallel, not series, like most humbuckers, but Seymour Duncan...

    Video Clips Playing Your Greco?

Some good stuff! Really like the Watts clip. From the heady days of 2008, live from my folks' living room (whom I was visiting): Saturday blues. Guitar is EG59-45.

    1983 Greco Mint Collection

I have (and love) an '82 EG59-45 - exactly like yours except with a three piece top. I would never call it lightweight, though I've never put it on a scale. The Screamin' 82 pickups are crunchy ? if you want to play rawk, then you're probably good to go. I swapped out the ceramic mags for some...

Greco pickups under a Microscope ..........

Hahaha I don't think I'll be swapping back, at any rate.

Greco pickups under a Microscope ..........

Just another data point: I swapped the mags in my Screamin' 82s. They had black ceramic magnets (which are now on my fridge - hold the mail there very well). (I replaced them with AlNiCo IV ones.)

Refinish ideas for a mistreated goldstar???

I think mine looks amazing (Fender Japan - maybe made by Tokai):

    Z Clones?

I've read here and other places in the past (I think) that Dry-Z pickups might have used AlNiCo 4. Any comments?

What the hell is up with this Greco!!!???

Looks good! Not me! I'd put an ebony board on all of mine if I could (I have three guitars with ebony, and love the feeling (and the look))

Trying to sell a RG on ebay - forget it.

In the US, if you do not take action to protect your trademarks, the courts may decide during a relevant trial that it's obviously not important to you and strip the trademark protection. That's why you get the silly suits like Tiger Direct suing for an injunction against Apple selling Mac OS X...

    greco pickup ID

My Screamin' 82s have 7.5kΩ (neck) and 7kΩ (bridge) DC resistance. I reported them as ~8.5kΩ in another post, but must have mismeasured. I put AlNiCo IV magnets in them and they're awesome.

Just bought my first Greco, Questions

My '82 EG59-45 has those caps. Nice looking guitar! I'd get cream rings, too.

    Nitrocelulose lacquer

My Eastman thinline has finish checking - meant it got sold to me as a second, at an appropriate discount. I don't really mind. It's my impression that lots of acoustic guitars are still finished with nitro, because it lets the wood breathe more. You sniff enough nitro...

    Greco LP Incoming

If Wikipedia is to believed, those pickups were made the day my g/f was born. :D (1982-02-25) No idea what model they are though. Beautiful guitar, though.

    Correct string gauge ?

Uh... lots of people use legato on traditionally strung acoustic guitars - I really don't understand how heavy strings get in the way of it. I can appreciate that light strings enable a low action for very fast playing and big bends (I can barely do 1.5 steps with my .011s).

    Correct string gauge ?

:o Wow. My acoustics have .013s, but are tuned down a whole step or are in Vastapol D or C# or Spanish G. My 12 string is set up for .010s, though I'd like to set it up for bigger strings. As for tone, I only really noticed an improvement when increasing the gauge when using a slide, and the...

    Correct string gauge ?

I use .011s on all my electrics. You won't hurt the neck - it's got a truss rod for a reason.

How to Peter Green my Love Rock?

You mean the wire mentioned? It's just a wire with two little wires inside it, along with a shield around them. You wire the two leads to the push-pull pot, and the shield to ground (earth).

How to Peter Green my Love Rock?

Jamieh had the solution with the second post. As I said further down that page, I did it that way too, and it works very well. Guitar looks great, Mr. Stratman23.

    Rewiring an es-130

I know it's the gold standard for guitars, but electrical engineers that I've talked to laugh at CTS stuff as pretty cheap and low quality (it's better than the even cheaper stuff, though). Here's something much closer to "the best": Alessandro (No, I don't have any, but I'm not picky).
