Why not many Tokai Japan Custom models?

 That must be why there are a gazillion different color/flame variations in the LS/Standards/Historics - which most of you make a point of photographing in every possible light condition to bring out the color/flame - while in the customs you get black or white and not much else.

80 Tokai Les Paul Reborn Darkback LS50

I don't know about Reborns but I played a 81 LS80 Love Rock which could pass as a twin, black neck and dark back.

    Tokai lc-85s bbe

I agree that the "E" probably stands for ebony fingerboard since the normal LC85S BB (I have one) has a rosewood fingerboard.

    identify this tokai

Judging by the 3-screw truss rod cover, it's Korean made which would make it a ALC-53. Does it have a serial number in the back of the headstock ?

Can I order an LS125F in Brown Sunburst?

For the LS125F the Tokai catalog only lists Cherry Sunburst, Viloin Finish and Lemon Drop, so I don't think so.

    should I pay this?

true :) but it still seems overpriced. 500$ canadian works out to around 333euros and this is for a 5-6 year old guitar. you can get a brand spanking new ALS43 from 275 to 325euros.

    Ls 85Q oak

I think that by "special" he probably meant that you see less oak finishes outhere than sunbursts, or maybe that he thinks it sounds particulary good... I dunno. As far as woods, it's a quilted maple top with mahogany back, mahogany one-piece neck and rosewood fingerboard (I'm really channeling...

    LS230 vs LS135

When comparing both specs from the Tokai catalog the only differences I can spot between these two models are: -flamed top vs normal top -black beauty caps vs orange drops but the LS230 is almost twice as expensive. What am I missing ? Are the woods different, or is the manufacture quality any...

Tokai installed my selector switch backwards!!

Are you sure you are not just mixing up the switch notation ? Treble = bridge pickup Rhythm = neck pickup I don't mean to sound like an ***, but I'm getting a mental picture of you flicking to the "rhythm" position of your explorer for some metallica rhythm playing... hope I'm wrong.

need info on the loverock als 65!

Every now and then, I borrow a friend's Gibson LP Standard (the only one I've ever tried) and I have to admit that it sounds a little better than my Tokai LC80. It's more resonant and really vibrates in your hands. Don't get me wrong, my Tokai is a very good guitar and I'm sure my next guitar...

Love Rock 'aged' hardware advice please

To tell you the truth I also think that it won't make much of a difference but in ~2 weeks I'll have one to install in a LC80 and I'll post a (hopefully) unbiased review.
