    MIK Loverocks

This is a can of worms, no one really knows the full story as far as I can tell.

    Tokai MIK model TKM

That's really not a bad price, I think I paid $450 back in '02 so if it's in really good shape it may be worth it. I think the TKM's are very few in number, you almost never see them so one day who knows?

    Tokai MIK model TKM

This is the only other one of these that I have run across (other than mine which I've had since 2002). There is not much info available on this one that I can find, I think it was maybe one of the first Korean built (TKM either stands for Tokai Korea Model or Tokai Kalamazoo Model, I suspect...

tokai is getting just a bit ridiculous

So instead of asking 'what's for dinner?' I should ask 'what's for love?' and hopefully avoid a slap !!!

Thanks for digging into it, seems like pretty good news though on the face of it.

tokai is getting just a bit ridiculous

Classic Sushi guy, just classic - I did find that Gibson made a Kalamazoo model with KM on it - could it be Tokai Kalamazoo model? Or am I losing it. Searching around I can't find any similar ones. The Ric model is supposed to be an RG40-12 if that helps at all - now back to my breakfast of sushi !!

Yep screwdriver slots and scarf joint - must have been the outpouring of love after all !!!!

tokai is getting just a bit ridiculous

I wonder if anyone really knows, it seems there are Tokai's from all over (at least it seems that way to me, as a layman). For example - the 2 guitars I posted pics of earlier haven't been categorically labelled as 'Fakais' by the experts as yet - I suspect they are? Hence my rant at the...

tokai is getting just a bit ridiculous

So, just out of interest are both my Tokais Fakais? (pictures posted earlier) My apologies for starting a mini WW3 bye the way !!

tokai is getting just a bit ridiculous

tokai is getting just a bit ridiculous

Maybe I'll post some pictures of my 'fakai' and presumeably fake 12 string Ricky copy - both came from Canada about 5 or 6 years ago - both play excellently bye the way.

tokai is getting just a bit ridiculous

But this is my whole point - noone seems to know what is fake, what isn't fake, and it's not helped by Tokai themselves putting guitars out there with serial numbers/without serial numbers etc. At least Fender do that. My 'Fakai' has no serial numbers anywhere, no stickers, nothing, it just says...

tokai is getting just a bit ridiculous

This is a very odd make of guitar - firstly only Japanese were any good (all Korean builts were considered crap), now the Korean ones are now also good but the Chinese/Indonesian ones are crap. Oh and bye the way, the Canadian ones are also crap except for the Ricky copies which are rarer than...

    Doh! Ding Repair Advice Needed...

I repaired two dings worse than yours on a PRS - first I chipped the loose pieces out of the area using a plastic toothpick, then using 800 grit paper (tiny piece) feathered the edge of the area. Then I applied some red marker (it was a red guitar) to the wood colored substrate to get close to...

    Korean Tokai Quality?

Well - here goes, I bought a Love Rock out of Canada in 2002 for approx $450 - since then it has been gigged relentlessly to the point where it is beginning to need a refret. It has been knocked off it's stand, bashed into a kick drum mic stand, even survived a TV falling on it (luckily I took...

    *Flawed Tokai part 2........*

    Tokai RG-40/Rockinbetter!

Okay here's the deal - I have the RG40 - 12 string version. It couldn't and shouldn't be expected to pass itself off as a true Ric, as it has amongst other things, a conventional in-line peg headstock, and not the 90 deg Ric style. Purists will argue that it should be avoided because of this, in...
