    1959 Les paul

Ive played vintage (read: original) Les Pauls. They vary BIG time. From wood to electronics. But yeah, I wouldnt mind owning a "crappy 59" : ) Regardless, my 81 Ls-80 is my favorite guitar in my collection. Thats against Gibsons (one is a 1962) custom made stuff, really cheap stuff etc etc...

    Burny Japan or Korea?

I forget they (along with fernandes) started doing all the chinese production pieces lately. But I had my suspicions that this was not a japanese model. It may sound great and play fine, but at this point Id only be picking one up for the sake of collection, in which case Im only into japanese...

1981 LS-80 Gold top that has a REAL tiger stripe flame maple

how do you figure flamed maple was considered a fault back then, when it was used on Jazz boxes and other instruments for quite sometime before making a big splash with solidbodies. Also keep in mind, in 56 carved top les pauls were either goldtops or black customs. There were no burst...

Why are vint. Tokais supposed to be better than t. new ones?

Ive got an 81 LS80 I think to get this quality of materials on a modern tokai Id have to buy a much higher end model. Not to mention the laquer finish. Granted, this may be off set by the ever increasing prices for a vintage Tokai, but I got mine for only 200USD from some burned out hippy...

    cleaning up the LS80

I was cleaning and adjusting my LS80 earlier today and noticed something funny. When I bought her she no longer had the sticker on the back of the headstock that reads "80" however, she did have a smudge of dirt in the same place. I dont know why I never bothered to clean it off until...

Why Gibson is after tokai/prs/dillon etc?

none of the copies mentioned were anywhere near the exact copies that japan procues. Also, most of the companies you named dont really hold a candle to any of the japanese made version, save ESP being japanese and Heritage, practically being a Gibson. Though Gibson (and most manufacturers)...
