The tops are solid. The OS one is from 1979, hence the stamp. The VF one is a 1981 and still has the imprint of the original sticker:

Taking care of nitro finished Tokais (1978-1983)

Absolutely, it’s by far the most burst-like in terms of colour of the Tokais I have (and the subtle flame, and the double whites etc). And I love the feel of the nitro on the vintage Tokais, just pure class

somewhat similar to the „no serial“ LS200 Cliff‘s got in his wonderful Flickr inventory (I am not posting a link because those are not my pictures)

It‘s a 1981, and looks a bit „dark“ because of the bad weather we have right now). Here are some other pics of the top:

Thank You very very much for the detailed answer! I LOVE patina, love vintage Tokais and am not in the business of damaging anything, just the stuff that looks like grease (and not like patina/mojo that everyone loves)))

Taking care of nitro finished Tokais (1978-1983)

Good evening everybody! Just wanted to ask for the advice for polishing up/getting rid of (at least some) clouding on the vintage Tokai nitro finished LS-es (80 through 150) and similarly finished higher end Springies and Breezies. The internet suggests, among other things, abrasive polishing...

    CNC At Tokai?

BTW, if one of the goals in using CNC from very early on was to reproduce the exact 1958 shape I would very much like to know which guitar exactly was chosen to be the "shape prototype", since Gibson's carving and shaping on the original bursts was done by hand and thus varies slightly (look at...

    CNC At Tokai?

Love Your OCD, man! BTW, if, while researching/translating, You should find any info (catalogues or elsewhere) on the woods used, what types of mahog and rosewood etc, that would be most appreciated! And probably worth it’s own thread 😉

The Earliest Tokai Les Paul Reborn LPs 1978 ?

IIRC reading it in one of many similar discussions, starting somewhere around 800600 the necks started to be one piece. The LC100 that used to belong to Villager is the earliest one-piece that I've seen a picture of.

LS80 8000353 in OS. Graceful LS with a (typical for very early LSs) two-piece neck, on the heavier side (4,3-ish)
