I was busy putting the original pickups back in my Super Grade last night prior to putting it up for sale and noticed that the serial number is in the neck pick up cavity. I must have been asleep when I changed the pickup originally as I never noticed it before. I also noticed that the neck...
De Guvnor you bastid!
You go and post that picture of your new love rock and start off my itching palms. ****. Just as I start to get financial status back to normal after buying a LP custom from Bryants music, you put up that piccie and I'm thinking, well it's possible - I could get one...
Try taking the pickups down away from the strings, if they are two close the magnetic field can pull too strongly on the string and interfere with the natural vibration of the thing that I just said.
(Someone has stolen my Thesaurus)
I assume that they don't have any stickers on the bottom, as they normally have a N or B (for neck and bridge) after any number/letter designation. The only way I can think of to tell what goes where is to compare the cable lengths. The Neck pickup should have a slightly longer cable as it has...
I just swapped a Boss super phaser for an old Metal Driver my friend had. He will be bringing it round this weekend, still in the original box. I was with him on the rainey day way back in the early 80's when he got it from Allen Gordens in Leytonstone(if my memory serves me well)
We tried it...
On my 2001 Love rock I changed the bridge for a more acurate Gibson style one with the removable saddles and retainer wire. I changed the bridge PU for a Duncan '59 and put a thinner PU surround on the bridge PU as well. OK - I like to fiddle, but it's the little details that keep a sad old fool...
I know we all have differing tastes but try this experiment. Go to the Wizard guitar site via the links page and scroll down the catalogue page till you get to the Tokais. When you see the Paisley SG do you go "Urgh! vile" or "Yeah baby!" Personally I did the former (I have only just stopped...
Looks like a copy of an Ibanez Artist, with deeper cutaways. I like the Gretsch (forgive the dodgy spelling)style padded back, but those 70's HiFi style knobs are awful! They can't be original can they?
I have promised myself to stay well clear of the Brian May guitar and so has a guitar playing friend. The reason - we both know if we tried one we would have to buy it. I have heard Brian May demonstrating the Burns guitar on a CD for Guitarist magazine, and with him playing you can't tell the...
Hallo again. Got to use the LPR for the first time in anger last night at a rehearsal/jam at the Ruskin Arms. The Haeussell Pickups are a little microphonic at stage volumes with the more high gain pre sets, but nothing that a quick stamp on the noise gate can't cure. I could of course turn the...
Just when I thought I had got my final Tokai, the Love Rock 2 comes along. Time to start saving and thinking of the excuses for the Mrs. ("but darling, the other Tokai's were lonely")
It may be a bit late but there is an ad in the Misc. section of this months Guitarist for 2 Tokai Zebra stripe pickups from "an early love rock" model. ?60 no name, just the phone number 01992 462 640. Hurry hurry. I thought about it but I am going on holiday soon so need all my spare dosh.
And the point of this guitar is what exactly? I thought the reason for having a tele would be to not go all metal and pointy, unless any old fools out there remember Vadis from the 80's - I seem to remember the guitar player (Steve Zodiac?) had a tele hybrid thing.
Hiya people.
I have some more info regarding my Les Paul Reborn (LPR) Tokai if you want it, as I finaly got to take out the pickups last night during a string change. (This entry could bang on a bit, so grab a cup of something lively and settle down)
From the top.
The guitar looks exactly...
I have a Fernadez LP from the early 90's and it is a good guitar, comparable to a Love Rock. The only difference is that on the Fernadez the neck binding goes over the fret ends (like Gibson) I always wondered why Tokai never did this - cost saving probably, but they make so much effort with the...
