I had a custom m'seeker think I dated it to 93 or 89 from the pots and was made at the Tokai factory going from the routing patterns. Think quality wise I'd put it a step below all the burny's I'd had but it only cost me about 12,000 yen a few years ago so was worth the price I paid. They made quite...

Your best bet is probably trying to buy direct from Japan either thru the stores or Yahoo Japan as they do seem rare even in Japan. I'd imagine anyone who's gone thru the hassle of getting one already shipped over isn't going to give it up easily. They do pop up on YJ from time to time last ones I s...

Respraying a guitar rarely increases the value of a guitar regradless of who's sprayed it. Sadly as soon as they're no longer stock finish the prce takes a hit.

Nice one Thomas, I've always loved the MIJ Epiphones, well made Fujigen guitars and the Epiphone logo usually means they get overlooked and can go for bargain prices.

No, when i bought it from forum member wulfman he kept the Dry82 pups because i couldn't afford them and i swapped the tuners and knobs/tailpiece/bridge/posts etc from an '84 ebony John Sykes model and added some Tonerider Rebel 90 humbucker sized p-90's. I kept the bone nut and black pickguard and...

Have you swapped the nut on that one from the stock brass? Looks similar to a John Perry model I have in the same finish from 1984 also.

Do you have any idea, where I can get some catalogues from Burny?
The catalogues are all here as pdf's, thankfully Fernandes have them going back as far as 1973.

Looks like a 1988 LJ-55, the rock n roll versions came out in 1986 and ended 1993 I think, Burny serials usually have the year has as the first number so can only be 1988. If it still has the original pots you should be able to date it to the month of manufacture too.

I saw a 1989 one sell on Yahoo Japan a few weeks ago for around $250 (25,056 yen) , probably needed a bit of work but still a bargain as they don't come up too often at that price. I considered bidding on it but have far too many projects to finish before buying more. http://auctions.c.yimg.jp/image...

I've got the same model from 89, they're sweet guitars to play and the P90's in them are usually the old Gibson clear bobbin ones which sound good. I'm guessing the flash is making it look more yellow in the pics than it is, mine's more of a mustard yellow and the grain shows thru top and back.

You're certainly not the only one, I've still got my first ever guitar from over 30 years ago too. It's a piece of junk now after being modded so many times and too be fair was a piece of junk when I bought it at the time for £20. I'd be far too embarrassed to sell it to someone. The neck's OK thoug...

Nitro is just a shortened version of nitrocellulose lacquer, the lacquer part just refers to the fact than the finish, in this case nitrocellulose, is dissolved/suspended in a solvent and after the solvent evaporates the finish is left behind. You can get acrylic laquers than are similar and the acr...
