On this topic of new versus old...

One of the major things that has changed over the years I think is the availability of old growth woods. Mahogany specifically.

I would guess there might be a difference there. Hopefully someone with more experience with newer Tokais will chime in.

Aren't the Tokai amps solid state? If they have tube versions I bet they sound nice.

Beautiful work on that one btw! Bet it sounds nice.

Has anyone else that ordered these from the U.S. gotten them yet? Mine appear to be lost in the mail somewhere?

Just curious.

You can get an early 80s/late 70s LS80 for 1/3 the price of an R9. And you know they aren't chambered. ;)

I had a 1979 SS500. Sandwich construction. I think it had a poly finish. It was in rough shape and I had too many guitars so it got sold. http://i1079.photobucket.com/albums/w518/visualvoyage/1979%20Greco%20SS500%20MIJ%20Japan%20SG/IMG_2563_zps76aa71ad.jpg http://i1079.photobucket.com/albums/w518/vi...

I also bought a set of SD 59 pickups by Juarez with the braided leads in tact. Also waiting on Declan's pickups in the mail. Hope they get here soon. ;) What a beast! http://i1079.photobucket.com/albums/w518/visualvoyage/Seymour%20Duncan%2059%20Juarez/_57-1_zps339d1dfb.jpg http://i1079.photobucket.c...
