So, what is the sound difference in the 2 piece neck vs a traditional one piece? Was this just done to make the neck stronger? Or was is cheaper to do? if the join is properly done likely no difference in sound; two piece could actually be a more stable neck two piece neck is cheaper to construct b...

If your guitar is all original with E's and well set up, I don't see how they're not one of the best Strat pickups, ever, IMO very few Fender models are as good.

Someone around here did a recording comparing E's to red bobbins (I think), you should do a search, it's nicely done and very interesting.

I'd think in those years everything above a 60 is as good, certainly at 100 Tokai's are better than a Gibby standard made back then or now.

I'll defer to wulfman's opinion on where it's made, sorry I saw the TRC but was thinking I didn't see enough of anything else to say it was MIJ conclusively.

It does look like a nice guitar but as I already have some early 80's Tokai's, I could never live with the dimple...

Bad news, that's (a) not an LS80 and (b) it's not 1980's and (c) when the frets are onto the binding there's no FEB or nibs or whatever you call them and (d)I doubt that it's MIJ either, looks chinese to me sorry for your loss...

Pics get responses because before that it's tough to say anything... '84s - TST models I've seen - 50 55 60 70 80 100 That bridge sounds like it might be a Silverstar bridge, you sure there's no screws under the saddles? Here's a link to the '84 catalog, do you see yours there? http://brochures.yoko...

Super Editions were also made in different price ranges, I've seen 40's and 60's, and I have a 1984 with all gold hardware and a lacquer finish, with an intact 80 sticker. **Bridge is not original** http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/1280x1024q90/661/gbk9AT.jpg http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/1280x10...

That burst is Sen, not Alder... it does really look like one piece to me but you can't say 100% from the pic's and with a dark edge, handling it is the only way to know for sure.

Not sure about Z's but is the pole piece spacing the same, if not wider pole spacing goes at the bridge.

Well no date codes on original pots pretty much seals it, for sure not 80's but the early 90's Burny's are very nice guitars and light weight is a bonus. I have an '84 Sykes that has the Sykes TRC but I think you're right about later ones having a plain TRC and right that nickel hardware is Sykes mo...

Lightning bolt inlay and winged truss rod cover are both 1990 and later, pot codes might help if it's a very earlly 90's, post a close up of the pots and let's have a look.

Also, don't the Sykes have uncovered pups and "Sykes" on the TRC?
