That's nice - a one or two year younger sister to mine. 8) Thanks Mike  ! Yes, it is very similar to yours, apart from maybe the scratchplate, which isn't quite as 'swirly'!? Still, they're a fine pair, by anyone's standards ! And, as soon as I comment on never having seen another "bloc...

Some pics of my first Tokai bass.

So, as promised, I finally got my camera (and tripod) out and took a few pics of my (1985?) Olympic White Jazz Sound bass. I do (technically) own another two Tokai Jazz Sound basses, but they are both in England (where they were delivered to after being purchased on eBay UK) and I won't get my hands...

The Hardpunchers are normally under 4kg. Say 3.8kg. I would pick a puncher before a 70's Fender at any time. Fender from the 70's are too up and down in the quality but Punchers deliver. basically, the variation is quality is bigger on 70's Fender. The black and white were sold as a pair. The guy w...

That's a real gem, Mike! Thanks for posting the pics :) . Those block decals seem to be very rare indeed - I don't think that I've seen another one (outside of a Tokai catalogue  ). I must organise some decent pictures of my OLW TJB45 and post them up here shortly. Looking forward to seeing wh...

There are more Tokai bass pictures in your one post than I have been able to find after weeks of Googling around the Internet. I hope that you don't mind me adding those pictures to my "Bass Porn" folder :w...

Post your Tokai bass pics, please!

Having searched through every single post on the bass section of the Tokai forum, looking for photos to learn from (and drool over), I have to admit to being a little disappointed in the very small number of (very small) images that I came across :( . Tokai made utterly wonderful basses, back in "th...

Sorry guys, I'm a bass player and so naturally I have no clue about anything , Sounds like you are confusing yourself with drummers..... :P Mick On this forum, bass players are the equivalent of drummers  , seeing as Tokai didn't make any drums and we don't have a forum section for our stick-j...

I'd gladly drive off to who knows where with half a million dollars in my pocket and dutifullly hand it over to a total stranger :-? . Sorry guys, I'm a bass pla...

:o Wow! Looks like a different instrument. Is that a Fender control cavity plate? I often wondered whether they were interchangeable on the basses. Most of the Tokai guitar parts can be interchanged with Fender (There's even a theory that Mark Knopfler's repainted red Strat from the first Dire Stra...

Yeah it's in good nick, I just feel a bit guilty having something that I can't really get anything out of. At least my guitars get played to some sort of standard.... If the basses are like the guitars (and they must be), you can't date Tokais from 1984/85ish from the serial numbers. What Tokai did...

Almost snap! I have a 1983 JB45. I know it's 1983 from the block decal, yours will be from 1984 onwards. Have a look through the catalogues in the registry to see which models were listed in the 80s. I'm not sure if any of them were nitro finished though, with the guitars it was only 80s and above ...
