Skywolf, that is so beautiful, and the price, at this point, seems very reasonable for an LS100 (or almost any 80's Tokai). Don't know what the shipping to Germany would be, but good luck to you if you decide to bid on it.

I owned a '59 sunburst Les Paul way back in the sixties (jeez I'm old!), and when I came across this Love Rock in a guitar store in 1988, one of the first things that struck me was how thin the neck was in comparison. What I'd compare it to maybe is kind of how I view the profile of an ES335 - thin ...

My '84 LS60 also has a very thin neck. I've owned it and loved it for 16 years, but recently bought a Gibson Historic '59 Les Paul, which I play alot, if only just to justify the price, which was over five times what the Tokai goes for. To quickly compare the two: The quality control on the Tokai is...

I know you can get Gibson parts at any guitar store that is a Gibson dealer(Gibson will not sell direct), but finding one that carries the Historic line of parts might be a little tougher. I would think your best bet might be a Guitar Center, or else I'm pretty sure they could order one in for you.

I was talking to a vintage parts dealer at a guitar show last year, and he had a bunch made up that he was asking $80 a piece for! Makes fifty seem like a good deal. At a show about ten years ago, a guy had an original one for $75, but back then I thought that price was nuts. The Gibson Historic one...

That wood is giving him wood!

There is an interesting thread on the LPF (it's OK to talk about them here, isn't it? ) about the "correct" top carve of old Les Pauls vs. the incorrect new ones. Comparing this one with pictures posted there, it looks like Tokai nailed it.

Tokai has a pretty unusual system of model designation - the model number is tied into the list price (ie: an LS60 lists for 60,000 yen, an LS75 is 75,000 yen, and so on and so on). So I'm assuming that inflation has pushed up the price of the LS85 to 90,000 yen, thus forcing a change in name also. ...

Soundhound, this site is based in the U.S. - there's just an inordinant amount of those other guys on it!  Seriously, I think any MIJ Love Rock (the older the better) will get you in the right direction for achieving the tones of those great players. You may choose to change pickups, but ...

Knowing how the guys on the LPF are, you're much safer to have it moved or removed! Although extremely knowledgeable, they have a certain affinity for dragging you out in the back alley and kicking the virtual s**t out of you for a while - then welcome you to the forum and tell you to grow a thicker...
