Here comes togps with his accusations again. I don't know anything about these guitars, but do you have any facts to back up your claim? If not, why don't you put a sock in it!

Sorry Ned and Ian - but, hey, can't we have a LPF-style rumble once in a while?

Wow! Does anyone make fretboards as beautiful as Tokai? Look at that gorgeous dark rosewood! Very, very desireable.

Yes, the ones I'd seen were at guitar shows and music stores, plus these were the "asking" prices - not the all important "selling" price. And they were priced as used Gibsons. I guess Ebay, with it's customer base in the millions, is a better indicator of what people will actually pay for these (or...

I don't know...with all due respect, Ian, if it's an original finish, $800 US sounds pretty reasonable to me. I've seen a few in hogguitar's neck of the woods (Seattle area) for around $1200 - but admittedly that's sunburst finish. I buy all I could if they were around $550! But, yes, I would get mo...

Ask him about that case. Moan and cry and tell him that's the "gigbag" you thought you'd get. Do what you gotta do to get that case!

And the guitar ain't bad either.

Love Rocks - the missing years?

You know, I've seen my share of '84 and '85 Love Rocks in person, and have seen many a Reborn on Ebay as well as talked about here, but I very rarely hear about '82's and '83's, and I don't think I've ever heard of anything from 86-89. The Registry seems to bear this out. My theory is that 84/85 are...

That is so Greeny burst - I'm jealous! The descriptions of the '85 LS60's and LS80's in the catalogue pages are virtually identical, so I'm shooting in the dark a bit here. The LS60's of that year had a flame veneer top - with obvious tigerstripes - and yours looks a little subtler, so it could be a...

Holy Moly - I never heard of an LS450! For that kind of crazy money, I'd want it to say either "Gibson" or - preferably - "Tokai" on the headstock.

Never having got a guitar refinished, I couldn't honestly tell you what it would cost - you'd have to get few quotes. But if you're going with a white finish, you've opened your options a lot. It's the properly done sunburst Les Paul-type finish that requires the real expert touch, but if it were mi...

I think guitar refinishers are a dime a dozen, probably even more so in California. I'll bet any guitar store you walk into, they'll say, "Umm..sure we can refinish your guitar for you...I guess". Now, entering the rariefied atmosphere of the top pro refinishers, you'd find, among others, Scott Lent...

Welcome to the Tokai Forum, hogguitar. Too bad we couldn't have hooked up at the Seattle Vintage Guitar show two weeks ago, it would have been nice to meet another Love Rock owner. There were three Tokai's there - a very nice Goldtop, and a couple of exceptional Springy Sounds priced as high as real...
