Re: PLEASE EXPLAIN ME ABOUT THE ES-120.

The PickUp, is Gotoh, worth keeping? better a Seymour Duncan 59? (snip) A lot of people love the Gotoh p'ups, but Tokai themselves upgraded to Dimarzio or Duncan on their top-of-the-range models. I've been advised the best I can do (for classic rock, blues etc) is to upgrade to Lindy Fralins. (...a...

The PickUp, is Gotoh, worth keeping? better a Seymour Duncan 59? What about the woods? G'day Daniel, A lot of people love the Gotoh p'ups, but Tokai themselves upgraded to Dimarzio or Duncan on their top-of-the-range models. I've been advised the best I can do (for classic rock, blues etc) is to up...

Hey Cybercat, That cherry Love Rock may not be quite what you think it is. Can you give a few more details about the top, and pickup cavities and the pickups. Peter Mac Hi Peter, g'day! Well, I took one of the p'ups out to look (& 'flip the magnet" a la Peter Green) & they seem to be the original G...

Well, first of all, kidchipola, I feel for you. I've bought a couple of necks and pedals on eBay that, to be honest, were not what was advertised or expected. Had it been a 'face to face" sale, I'd have never bought 'em. What was worse, at least one of the sellers must have known he was misrepresent...

He recently bought a nice old Fender Japan Strat o...

Just thought I'd reply, and say congrats on the score :) Hate for bassists to feel left out around here  Yeah, congrats, PMan! I also just became a Tokai owner (though I played my brother's Springy a lot back in the very early 80's) Anyway, I hope you're as knocked out with the quality, sound ...

(snip) it is depending on which tokai era you are looking for. Pre 82, unlawsuite, you should look at around 500 (UK GBP), which I have, sounds like a killer. Post 82 would be lower as quality is not so good. good luck Yup, my friend Bob recently snapped up this one ('81) :- http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/...

I'll see what happens when the distributors find something to match the LR bridge.
Please keep us informed of what you find out, I'm also interested to know if this is an easy 'drop-in replacement' type job, or something more complicated....

Many thanks,

Bill, Hong Kong.

Congrats! I had one of those...'81 GT...long tenon neck joint! The pups are probably Tokai/Gotoh (at least mine were, as labeled on the bottom). Greg Congrats Dana! I also picked up a 1981 Loverock on Thursday, but the top is Cherry red, so her name is, of course, "Cherry" (though now a bit faded t...
