Re: -

I'm gonna put new nut and new pots and proper switch. Hi Skarqvist, Congrats on the score! Why do you want to change the pots? My luthier friend Simon Pinder (who does work for countless "names": like Clapton, Bowie etc) says that the Nobels brand pots Tokai used are by far the best available anywh...

Hi StratoRat "Super high price" ? My mate in UK, Greg, has bought a couple of Springys over the last year to 18 months on on eBay (one just a couple of weeks ago). He payed around US$850- $890 each for them, plus shipping from Japan. That appears pretty standard. He tells me that apparently the rose...

An pro guitarist friend of mine, Graham Foster, had an early '65 Fender like that back in London in the 80's. 4-bolt big headstock, kind of a 'tr...

StratoRat wrote:I'm interested in that springysound. Tokai tuners would be the round unsealed ones instead of kluson style, right?
On models below ST50, yes. As I understand it, ST-50 and above have the "Kluson" style made by Gotoh.

Hi vanneste, I have the Maxon AD900 analog delay, which has 600ms of delay, about twice as long as most analog delays, and use it in the FX loop of my Dr. Z Maz 18 Junior. It's very nice, but there's a bit of an impedence mis-match using it in the FX loop (I've recently been told it's designed to go...

For my Love Rock, I get the very best "Les Paul" sound I can imagine using a little Laney LC15R combo. Really classic rock sounds with no pedals & no effort! I tried the bigger Laney's (as the LC15R is too small to gig with for 95% of the places I play), but the tone was not the same & the sweetness...

Hi Ian, I've done several complete re-finishes on Strats using nitrocellulose, & by far the very best results I've got were by finishing off using Stewart MacDonald's polishing compounds - indistinguishable from a very good factory-finish. The white ( & earlier pics blue) Stratocaster in the picture...

Hi Ned, I think for simple pictures, jpegs are best, but for catalog pages, magazine reviews etc, the text can be hard to read when saved in jpeg format, so I vote for PDF for pages with text. The Tokai catalogs can be hard to read in Japanese anyway (!) - but at least we can try, hehe, or with PDF ...

Hi Nick,

Any pics of the 1980(-ish) Springy?

- oh, and does the '83 Goldy with the veneer board have a "skunk stripe" down the back of the neck?
(seeems some do, some don't & I couldn't see from your eBay pics).

Good luck liquidating the GAS!

BIll.

New Tokai headstock logo?

Hi, Just had this pointed to me on an eBay item (3705805684) Notice the shape of the "T" on the Tokai logo on the headstock, - like the "7" shaped T used back in the old 77- 82 "lawsuit' spaghetti logo, but fatter : - http://www.shenanigansvintage.com/ebay/4499e.jpg Is this a new logo? (... or a fak...

Hi bluedean, Congrats on the great-looking guitar! (I'd been looking at that guitar too, have been after a 3-color "target" sunburst Springy with rosewood board & 'skunk-stripe" for a while now but finances too tight at the moment, so I didn't bid, hehe). As far as I know Katana is very trustworthy ...

I've had to this a few times with my Fender Strats - Charlie Chandler, & more recently Simon Pinder, our local (but world-famous) luthier, sets them up (after a re-fret or whatever, I play out a lot & go through a set of 6105 frets in a couple of years!) with the strings smack down the middle of the...
