Interesting that you could map the two guitars (1984 LS200 = 2003 LS320). I guess that would make my LC100 the equivalent to an LC160 if such a thing were to exist today. Looking at the 2000 catalog, I'm amazed that they had/have such a broad range in quality and pricing - one Tokai is certainly not...

Right. In these days of higher inflation it almost seems rediculous to do such a thing as tie the price to the model. As you might recall from my earlier posts, I was in a quandry as to what exactly I had bought and whether it was a good deal or a great deal. The 'original hang tag' (as the seller d...

Model #'s and pricing

Is it true that Tokai imbeds their pricing (in Yen) in their model numbers? If so, have they always done that?

I was in at Mike's Music the other day and saw the Korean ones. They look really nice and felt very good. The only thing that caught me was that the top looked a bit like a 'photo-flame' (is that the way they're making them?).

Love Rock Setup Specs

Can anyone out there provide me with some basic setup information that I can use as a starting point for the setup on my Love Rock?. She's been around 30 years and I don't know how close to or how far off she might be from the original specs. I've been pretty much a Fender-guy most of my life so I'm...

I think I have it now

Thanks for the earlier help guys. I popped out the pickups on the weekend and although I found no writing anywhere, I'm 99.9% sure that it's a one-piece top on a one-piece body with a one-piece neck (all mahogany). Using the information found here (which has been most useful), I figure that I have a...

Thanks for the input guys. I think that the guitar is legit. I wonder if the hang tag was done incorrectly though. It's definitely a proper tag with the date 'June 82' and the correct serial number that's on the headstock stamped in two locations on the tag. Perhaps they used the wrong tag in the fa...

A Tokai 'Newbie' seeking knowledge

Greetings all. I am the proud new owner of (what I believe to be) an 82 Love Rock Custom. I am new to Tokais and although I've been playing many years, I'm not very knowledgeable on Les Pauls in general either. After spending some time on this site I find myself just a little confused about what it ...
