yep! my fave 80's effect noise was the old floyd growl - hit a note then whack the trem - brrrrrrrroowww..... lol! I've got a strat that has a nicely balanced floyd on it and even the chords growl if you hit them a bit too hard  my other fave effect/technique from back then is the Frank Gambale...

Hi Barry,

Did you also point out that they are still made in Japan as well as Korea?
I agree, sounds like a Korean, however given that - "Due to digital camera not working, this picture isnt of my guitar" - who knows??

You'd have to be a bit nieve (mild) to go anywhere near it

I like the tone of D'Addario's but they just wouldn't last through a gig, so I use EB's coz they're as tough as old boots

Agreed on the matching Tokai do. I had a LR that was a 2 piece back but you couldn't spot it at all, the only give away was on the end grain where very close inspection showed a centre split (nicely hidden by the strap button). And recently at a guitar show I got to check out the new Love Rock II th...

Well I have an old (vintage and rare) Les Paul custom that sits in its case all day because my 2002 LoveRock sounds better and plays better. I really do wish my G**son was the dogs nuts because it would be nice to take out with me and enjoy the heritage and all. But the Tokai does it better and it d...

Depends where in the Southwest you are 8bit - but if Oxford is not too far then you could try the guitar gallery - they have every model going. http://www.oxfordguitargallery.com Oh and with regards to dodgy decals: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3700198927&category=2384 Can't ...

WOW! That is a nice looking strat. The logo looks right for 84/85 and if it is a one off then I guess the serial numbers could be out of step. Tokai do like to mix things up every now and then. With regards to protypes LTD's etc, yes they do sell them - I've got one, a Love Rock from 2002 that was d...

Whispering Bob can be found on Radio 2 doing a country show - he's still sounds as cool as ever. He also does the annual country music awards on telly. I must admit to being a little jealous of the American country scene, as an ex sessioner and muso in my own right I wish there was a place where we ...

TG, I was 15 and had come down for breakfast just before heading off to school. It was cold grey and I was just starting on me wheetabix when the radio news came on. I'd been into the Beatles from about 5 or 6 onwards, my folks weren't that bothered so I guess it was a radio thing - by the time I wa...
