Oh, and Villager is right on target about the pots and caps! :D I just did the RSGuitar works upgrade, pots, Hovland caps, and I properly sheiled the cavities, ---the difference was HUGE. I did use better wire than they sent thought (OK I wasn't very "vintage" about that), and I used 4% halogen free...

Take the guitar you like to a guy with a Plek machine. Have him use the Plek to measure the frets (height AND plateau) you like AND the frets you are thinking about replacing. If there is enough fret height left to get you where you want to be, then just have the Tokai Plekked. Often times people th...

I am quite comfortable using ears! Sad when you see people who can't. However, for adjusting intonation, and playing it safe in the studio in this day of over dubbs, the Peterson is a worthwhile addition.

18 watt Marshall clones?

Anyone have/hear one of these? There are a number of places you can buy one, or make one from a ready to go complete kit. Recent encounter with one at a pro studio, FABULOUS! Think I may have found the amp to take to the grave...It's been a long hunt... Anyway, any of you guys familiar with the 18 w...

While I mostly play that "G" brand of guitars (sorry, as you guys are much more fun than my fellow "G" owners), when I was in the UK earlier this year I fell in love with Tokai! Since returning, I have only bought one, and it's a real decent FB-53 (MIK). However, I have played pro for 30 years, alwa...

NO Tokais are sold in stores in the USA, unless you happen to find a used guitar somewhere. I heard they may start to sell some of thier own style guitars in America before long, but no Love Rocks, or any other "copy" style guitars are sold by dealers in the USA. Even Canada is discontinuing them. L...

Appears to have had an 11 hole pickguard on previously. The body could be anything. Suspect you indeed have a "mutt".

Have the guitar Pleked. By far the most accurate. Even with proper truss rod adjustment, the neck may not have the proper relief at certain points that is needed for it ring every note fully. When the Plek scans it, the fret hieght can add, or reduce finger board relief accordingly. It's amazing. If...

Five position PUP switch upgrade?

I need to replace a 5 position switch (Strat type). I know there is some fancy one for wiring humbuckers and such, I just need a regular function one. Any idea if there is an extra good choice out there? I've seen a spring loaded one, and one with gold contacts...I'd like the best there is. Hmmmm, s...

I played 3 years, shortly after the movie came out (Oliver Stone?), in a Doors tribute band, semi-national. Great gig, long solos and no one complains-they encourage you! Our light man had worked for the 'Dead, and did the projection light show thing. Full house before we walked on stage. Keyboardis...

The '57 Classics are FABUOLOUS (IMO)! Really creamy, smooth, but with enough bite for that vintage edge, enough output to get an amp singing. I have them now in the neck position of all my humbucker guitars, and in some of the bridge positions as well. Sometimes I use a Burstbucker Pro at the bridge...

You have to replace the saddle on that high E, and have it filed to the desired height. Perhaps you want a local professional to do that. IF you have the appropriate files, experience and patience, you could just raise the entire bridge till the the high E is correct, then file all the others down. ...

Hey Sneaky, always enjoyed your posts, sorry if I have been more vocal than appropriate.

I also would rather play than talk.

What makes me think Slash didn't play on the recordings?

I had a long post here, but it all it would do is insight discomfort on this otherwise peaceful forum.

My experiences, and opinions don't need full public airing.

Sorry to those who read it...edited out now.
