This discussion reminds me of the speaker magnet debate: ceramic or Alnico. Supposedly, alnico sounds better with humbuckers while ceramic sounds great with single coils. But then many Marshalls are shipped with ceramics and Fender has used tons of alnico speakers. and, from what I've read from peop...

Then there's Calexico from Tucson. They play rootsy Americana music and sometimes tour with a Mariachi band, Luz de Luna, also outta Tucson. Saw them in Albuquerque and it was one of the most exciting concerts ever. Shouted myself hoarse. And the Handsome Family (creepy, old-time murder ballads and ...

How about Tinariwen from Mali? Exquisitely hypnotic, bluesy nomadic rhythms. Plus they traded in their AK-47s for electric guitars! 8)

Even though I'm a Philadelphia Eagles fan :o I was really pulling for the Mavs. They just could not get the ball inside past Shaq and crew. Three-point shots are great, but you can't win a championship that way. Dirk had an awesome season. I was impressed at the Mavs' depth. I think suspending Stack...

On the acoustic side, Keller Willliams can do some truly ridiculous things. And Phil Keaggy always sounds great, in concert and on recordings.

FWIW I've been using D'Addario XL 009.5-.044 for Silver Stars and Love Rocks. Had been using 9s for Strats and 10s for Les Pauls, but I've found that the 9.5s sound perfect for Strats, and very good with great bending ability for LPs. Plus if I ever get Alzheimers I can probably remember one string ...

I bought a 1980 Reborn Old LS-50 last year and had it checked by a luthier. He recommended a refret, rather than a dressing, with matching size frets (he also replaned the fretboard to remove a slight hump) and also discovered that the bridge pickup was slowly dying. Now with new frets, a straight n...

Hey Deadman, I can relate. After working as a journalist for 17 years (and winning several state awards), I got the boot last March. Nauseating at first, but it hasn't been the worst thing in the long run. Nasty as the experience was, it probably saved me a heart attack. I had no idea how burnt out ...

Bruce

That is one 8) Strat!

I love that color. What is that color (Malibu Blue? I'm guessing because I can't find my Fender book)

You must not sell (unless it's to me!)

Lucky guy! If I could afford Big Head Strats I wouldn't have my Silver Stars!
