I agree about the pedals - if it's a good guitar and a good amp, why muck it up? I replaced the original alnico Jensen 10s in my Vibrolux Reverb RI with a pair of Eminence L'il Buddy hempcone 10s, and the difference is amazing. Great tone at $54 apiece. The amp lost a bit of its high-end shimmer, bu...

Hey togps, Thanks for the reply! It makes sense, because my ES-100 has a light (poly) finish that doesn't scratch easily. But as I said, I am really impressed with this guitar nonetheless. I would guess that over the years nitro could sound a mite better, but all the Tokai (and Gibson) ES-335 bodies...

Hi togps,

Have seen a 2004 catalog and seem to remember the ES-100 had nitro as well. Could be wrong. No disappointment for me if it isn't. Love my 100 as it is! 8)

thanks

Hey Matthew I have no experience with Japanese shops as I have just gotten my Tokais (mostly Silver Stars) off eBay. But I recently bought a new but plain red ES 100 (flame, schmame) that I am currently agog with wonder over. It's a truly great sounding guitar. It actually sounded good with the orig...

From the article:

"city bankers hunting trophy guitars" ...

let's hope they keep buying mostly Fenders and Gibsons, not old Tokais!

guitar cables

Not really an effect, per se, but has anyone else tried the Klotz 10 foot guitar cable, the one that sells for $59.95? I had a gift cert from my wife (I am not worthy) to a vendor who carries them. Have been using it for two months now with my Silver Stars, Love Rock, Tele and even my fretless P-bas...

Scott Peteresen, the maker of Harmonic Design pickups, refers to Hisashi as "the eBay guy" http://harmonicdesign.net/allpages/ebayguy.html Still, that said, I have found Hisashi to be OK. He once accidentally sent me the wrong Silver Star from Japan :o, but he paid for shipping back and sent me a Bo...

ooops! Not only was it long, but I sent it twice. Sorry. I shall repair to the music room and lash myself with worn-out Slinkys (don't ask me what guage) to make amends.
