I'd like to hear those Dry-Zs, too. I have a Harmonic Design bridge humbucker in my Reborn Old, and it's a good one. Very clear and articulate but can also crunch nicely without piercing the eardrums. Just sold off a bunch of stuff and got a Swart Atomic Space Tone amp* - the HD bridge sounds awesom...

Ahhhh ... wish I had time for a hobby these days. Total career change in progress at age 52 after 20 years as a journalist. Am back at the local college studying sciences in preparation for taking a year-long course in becoming a surgical technologist. But when I'm not cramming for anatomy and physi...

Arsenal vs. Man Untd

Just saw this today - the last 45 minutes, anyway. Amazing backpass that set up Arsenal's first goal, and Henry's header was oustanding. Don't get to see many TV matches out here, but really enjoyed the high caliber of play.

I sold an amp once that had a Buy It Now on it and there were a couple of questions I'd received (what's the transformer number, what are the date codes on the speakers, etc) and while I was typing out a response to one of them, some one bought it. The questioner had the balls to email me back and ...

And now for something completely different ...

Must sell my custom Scala leathertopped (that's right) guitar. The leather feels nice and kinda looks like wood. It's strictly one of a kind. The neck is lovely and the one-piece mahogany body is smooth and toneful. It also has some older pickups that the builder expecially liked. They do sound nice...

FWIW, I took my Reborn Old LS-50 to the only good luthier in the area for a fret dress. He pointed out a hump in the fretboard that was affecting tuning and playability. So I took his advice, he planed down (under the proper tension of course) the board until it was arrow straight and then he refret...

Welcome and nice guitar! I agree with hawkeye. The stock pickups are very PAF-like, so you might want to wait a while.

The aluminum tailpiece is a must, though, IMO. It really makes a difference.

Have fun with your Tokai!

Gee, this has sure turned into a fun thread ... I'm no expert so I can't make a call here, but it seems that there is no rock-solid way to tell if what's being sold online is an LS100 or LS 120, because the stickers are almost always gone. True, the neck angle and pickup models offer clues, b...

I'd always wanted a 70s, big headstock Strat but didn't want to pay silly money for it. I saw a very cool 70s-era Strat copy in Vintage White online at Elderly Instruments, emblazoned with the wacky name of "Silver Star." It looked cool so I called the shop. I asked the saleswoman how it sounded - a...

Great top. It may be too good to be a high end model. Then again, I have no doubt that Ochay knows his Tokai's. I hope vapour mans know's what he's selling cause they'll be trouble if he don't. Yes, there could be big trouble on the horizon. Mr. Ochay may start calling him the dreaded "B" wo...

Hi Ned

I have gotten TKL cases from Elderly Instruments and the quality has been very good. In fact, the TKL ES-335 case was much nicer than the new hardshell I got with my Tokai ES-100 - wish I had kept that one.
