This is very odd John - my KLR bridge pick up is on the dark side if anything, if used alone I have to turn the treble up on the amp a bit to compensate. I usually run the pair together for a very balanced tone. Maybe these guitars vary a bit from one to another but I wouldn't dream of changing the ...

I use them on my TKM LR - there are two types, Nanoweb & Polyweb. The Nanos seem to last longer and don't go furry like the Poly's. I have very acid skin, I go through the Polys almost as fast as conventional strings so I prefer the Nanos but they seem to be harder to find in the stores. Both have g...

I had the same experience, an e-mail back immediately from Tokai with the answer I was looking for - they appear very enthusiastic. I wish I had bought one years ago, but I didn't know any thing about them - I just thought it was another copy with which the market was already flooded.

Hi John,
I think maybe the 57's are better suited to hollow body guitars like the 335 for example. I think the TKM Love Rock sounds great right out of the box, you probably did well to rewire it though.

Congrats - I was stunned when I saw my TKM LR for the first time too!! I think the Korean guitars are phenomenal & for around $400 (about the price of cardboard Danelectro) the steal of the century. Tokai just flat out rocks in my book, I have compliments all the time on my 'Les Paul' from our audie...

Hi stratdeluxer - sorry for the delay - I have retained the stock pups, I think they are prety good the way they are. I changed out the pups on my Wasburn HB35S for some 57's - big improvement. Don't see much need to change the Love Rock pups, I like them the way they are. What do you think about th...

I play my Korean Love Rock through a new Fender 65 Twin RI and it sounds awesome. The amp is very heavy though and I am beginning to resemble an ape!

All I did was replace the .009 strings with .010 - dropped the bridge about 1mm or so, and that's about it. Guitar looks and plays beautifully, stays in tune & sounds great. The only problem so far is the lock nut on the socket worked loose (minor). I gig every week with this & could not be happier....

To be honest I have no idea - I am fairly new to Tokai, I don't like Strats period, never did, I guess it has something to do with me being a rythm player, though I understand why lead players love the accessibility to the upper strings (a disadvantage with the LR design). I always wanted a Les Paul...

I agree with your comment about sustain and bolted on necks, it does all become a bit academic though. I still believe in the old adage - if it sounds & plays good, then it has to be good. Another quick comment about guitars staying in tune - my TKM Love Rock holds tune better than any guitar I have...

A scarf joint is a 45 degree (approx) angled joint that is used to hold the neck to the headstock. Provided it is done properly (which appears to be the case in both of my Korean guitars), as an engineer I believe it is a sound practice. There are other ways to join the headstock (as in the 3 piece ...

Hi Mark - Hopefully this will help you - I have the TKM (Tokai Korea Model Or Tokai Kalamazoo Model I'm not sure) Love Rock that is shown in the Tokai pictures page that the TokaiFreak put together (no scratches or dings). It is a beautiful guitar that has a wonderfully straight neck, action & finis...
