The string is almost certainly hanging up in the nut - sometimes the nut is not cut at an angle that will allow the string to sit up on the peak of the nut towards the frets, rather it peaks towards the headstock.

No its on the actual headstock, most say model, mine says TKM model which is a bit weird. I have no serial number anywhere, a flame top and 2 piece back. To be honest, it is one of the best sounding guitars I have experienced, it gets gigged every week and still lokks like new. I guess it's a 2000 o...

I e-mailed Tokai with questions about Korean and Japanese production, the response back was that they were proud to be building in both locations. Korean guitars these days are getting better and better, my Korean Love Rock is a truly great guitar, but then so is my Washburn HB35 and my Agile AL3000...

You could also give Rondo Music a try - their Agile guitars are superb value for money. I just bough a gorgeous Gold Top w/p90's for $349 one piece body & one piece neck, and the body is mahogany - unbelievable !!

I'm wondering if the Korean owners were getting a little tired of being told how crap their guitars are - just an observation

tokai name

Part of the fun of owning a Tokai is being asked what it is (IMHO), even more fun when it blows away a Gibbo owner !!

pyramid strings

The set I ordered were basically .010 to .046 which is essentially the same gauge as I use for my six string guitars. They are very smooth, a little expensive ($28 plus shipping). I'm surprised that you might be thinking about even heavier strings for your RG, they seem about as heavy as I could han...

I've had at least two real Les paul owners put my TKM Love Rock through it's paces up against their Les Pauls - soundwise and action wise there was very little difference. I have gigged for over a year with it , we play every weekend and practice during the week. The guitar looks beautiful, I can't ...

This is interesting, particularly in view of the fact that the Japanese guitars are supposed to be of higher quality than the Korean ones. The Korean LR that I bought a year or so ago was perfectly setup, and faultless in it's finish - kinda makes you wonder, especially as the likes of Brian Moore a...
