Prices skyrocketed. Yes. This is a normal phenomenon. Internet popularized this brand a lot, and, since a decade now, Gibson fanboys that searched quality to a price, discovered this brand. This was fueled by the Vintage craze and some hoax on the internet. I have found my LC110 of 1981 for a little...

The LS65 of those times where price/performance models, with compromises in quality and specs. They are mixed reviews, because they are not the high end tokai models peoples generally freak out about. Whatever, they are quite decent and will probably not disappoint somebody that want a correct guita...

Hello duff. Thank you for your link.

Ebony exists in different variations. This is obviously a piece of Macassar Ebony. Very appreciated in furniture today, and very vivid in it's brown/dark contrasts. But I agree it's very different looking than Gaboon Ebony (for example).

RIP GIBSON - Filed for chapter 11

It's official. Gibson filed for bancruptcy in the last 48 hours. Meaning that hundred thousands of Les Paul, SG and ES models have lost their dads.

Arrigato Goizaimasu (or Thank you) for all of your kind replies. Why is the guy saying it is 1980? Probably because he doesn't know. The seller is very sweet, he's admitting that he is not the first buyer and this guitar had a life with different pro artists before. As he said, "he bought it in the ...

Probably a true LC-110 of around 1980. Your opinion ?

Hello, I'm actually in contact with a seller that sells an old Tokai LC-110. He says the guitar is from 1980. The instrument has some little specialities that I can't identify completely, not beeing all fond with the older tokai's. Could you help me to make sure this is a legit guitar. Serial number...

Tokais HLS, LS, ULS.. what are those variants

Hello felllow. As I grew up. The normal tokais had the name LS. Sometimes ALS when they where made in Korea. Now, we have the HLS series, that are special runs made for Musicland Key. http://www.musicland.co.jp/content/tokai/hls-max-1959/ And I saw ULS types on Reverb. What are they ? Ah yes... I fo...

By "audio amplifier", I believe that you are speaking about hifi amplifiers. what does the efficiency even mean? It's the amount of watts that a speaker will need to deliver a given amount of volume. If a speaker has a sensitivity of 87dB/w, it will say that it will need 1 watt of given power to rea...

Yes it could be an als, but it also could be a LS. Also, the post 2000 models tend to have very conventional trussrod covers, this one has a styled form form. I just checked the old catalogue and found this form of Trussrod cover on 1985 Ls's and ALS's... we understand each other, there are other ye...

Difficult to be of a good advice here. But I wil try it anyway. Marketing is a beech sometimes, and you should ignore the mairmaids songs of them. My advice would be to have this sh_t repaired and to sell it to sombedy that will pay a decent price (not easy, but it could be possible). Then, to go fo...

I'm not in the club, but I have a question for you guys: I assume most of you have also played the "lower" models of Tokai. Is there still a big upgrade in tone compared to what's today the LS-160? Or is it more about nicer wood and finish? It depends what "Lower means". The lower models in the pre...
