I always identified my 78 narrow plate as being too narrow to stamp in the serial number between the top two screws - compared to the standard plate size.

On ES guitars for rock stuff.....

Be Bop Deluxe recorded this tune back in the 70's with some blistering lead fills and solos by guitarist Bill Nelson - played on an ES345. No missing that tone.
