Comments please?

I noticed some issues with the sound after my last post and opened the hood - I won't name the seller as we are lets say 'discussing' this at present. Apart from the disconnected tone control, which was not stated in the ebay listing, I have concerns over the body routing which does not seem to suit...

WTB Custom Edition parts

I am looking for a few parts to finish off my 'new' used Tokai Custom Edition. Looking for Gold 'Ayer's Rocker V' Tremolo for parts - am missing one saddle for the high E string and its String Locking Block. These are the blocks with the black square caps - quite unique - see 1986 catalogue page 1 a...

Once I put my reading glasses on it was obvious. Its an Ayers Rocker V
Licensed Under FLOYD ROSE Pats.

I have found heaps of Gold FR saddles but none with the black inserts yet.

Bump The guitar arrived yesterday in better than expected shape. One of the tremolo saddles is a replacement, steel rather than gold. Does anyone have knowledge of the source of these original tremolo units?? The sound is great, although it needs a setup and a bit of a clean. I will take the pick-gu...

OBG ES 335 in EPI Dress

I bought this recently, and I am very happy! I am told these are identical to the OBGs made up until 1998. This is a 1999 model, which as I understand it were the first made by Epiphone by Gibson. Apart from the obvious logo change, I have heard some express the opinion that the electronics were als...

Thanks I understand the basic principles you describe, and I am also aware that there are some exceptions. I know for example, within Fender parts, the the standard Strat replacement pickguard will also fit the MIJ Fender instuments pre 2002. Thus, I was kind of curious to understand how closely Tok...

1986 Japan Catalogue Clearer scans needed.

I have been trying to retrieve information relevant to my 'new' 1986 Custom Edition Tokai 'Strat'. The text re specifications on the scans of the 1986 catalogue is very hard to read as it is - sharpening the image does not help - is there any chance of a higher resolution scan of this catalogue? I o...

Ok, since both the Greco and the Edwards are from Ishibashi's U-Box I had to go for the Tokai... Fact is I didn't browse Ishibashi's site for months now and somehow I managed not to notice the new (to me) minimum amount of 50000 yen per order! It's ok though, as I said I was totally undecide...

1986 Custom Editions with no Humbuckers?

Hi all and Merry Christmas! I had been looking for a decent 'Strat'-like copy and won one of these today on ebay for $305.00. ebay item number 320633390808 I had checked the catalogues and found only pictures of one example which showed Humbuckers in the bridge position. I tried to view the jpg uplo...
