A few years ago I got some of the made in japan Tokai guitars without serial numbers from the factory. Japanese do not always pay attention to it. Now they add certifications to each guitar, but do not always enter serial numbers on them. So I think that the absence of a serial number does not mean ...

Tokai ALS60L must have African Mahogany body. Regarding the ALS55L I'm not sure, but most ALS guitars made since middle of 2013 come with mahogany body. You have to check the serial number. 2013 is transitional year for body wood on ALS/ALC guitars and this can vary depending on the dealer and the ...

Hey thanks for the reply. I'm still confused :( Does the ALS55L have Alder or Basswood? Does the ALS60L have African Mahogany then? Thanks again! Tokai ALS60L must have African Mahogany body. Regarding the ALS55L I'm not sure, but most ALS guitars made since middle of 2013 come with mahogany body. ...

The type of body wood was changed 3 years ago. Tokai use African mahogany for bodies in to ALS/ALC Traditional series guitars. The necks are made from hard maple. Recently they began to produce cheaper guitars, These guitars are also made in China, but in another factory. The new series is called "L...

And while your at it you can ask some Tokai dealers why a ULS150 doesent cost 150k yen. So Show me a Tokai with a solid flamed maple cap and a two piece back and I will buy you a beer. The name of ULS150/LS150 with AAA grade maple top isn't based on manufacturer suggested retail price in Japanese y...

Re: Tokai Are you sure your guitar is Question

Hi guys, I've found an used MIJ 2011 LC110S in pristine condition, went to see and try it. The guitar is all original, but the bridge pickup (PAF MK II) sound really overpowered in comparison with the neck. It's very bright too, a bit like a Telecaster. Somewhere on this forum I've read that these ...

Yep I'm in Australia, located near Brisbane. I think I'll pass this one up if it's going to be basswood, might as well get an LP that sounds like an LP! The question is what is the true LP? Norlin era guitars with pancace body and maple neck was not true Les Pauls? There are many people who would d...

How can I date when it was made exactly? If it was mahogany I think it would be worth it. I haven't held a basswood LP before but I think it is heavier than basswood. No, you can't. According to serial number it's made in 2013 and that's all. Tokai does not give such info for guitars which are manu...

From summer 2013 they made ALS guitars from African mahogany (African mahogany back, hard maple necks). But it can be transitional model from basswood. Or made until mid 2013.

I wish I could pin down for sure this model. I'm assuming it's an ALS-48 but the catalogues I've looked at don't have a SDR (see-through dark red) option...I've spent hours searching :( First of all I suspect that it's UALS series guitar, not ALS. UALS series guitars are manufactured for the UK mar...
