Mike's made a good point, the pics do seem to show TST[AST]56/62. However, there's this ancient thread just to add to the confusion: -

Thanks for the information on where the serial number was stamped, now the bad news is that by the mid 80's this wasn't a mechanism for accurately dating a Tokai Goldstar, however it does mean that it's very unlikely to be a newer model as these didn't have anything stamped on the neckplate. Another...

Hi and welcome to the forum. It would greatly assist the regular contributors if you added your location to your profile. This is because, if my understanding of these things is correct the modified headstock's were introduced into the US way before they were introduced into Europe. So if yours is a...

I don't think it is an AST33, the string tree is by the K of Tokai rather than by the T, also the dot markers at the 12 fret are spaced differently than shown on a AST33 and the scratchplate screw by the switch seems to match the attached link to the AST70 rather than the AST33 below it. Let the deb...

A quick search did not uncover a great availability of the AST50, the AST33 [pointy headstock] seem to be more available.
I thought that perhaps you were probably more interested in looking for LP's rather than Strat's

Mike,

Thanks very much, Strat with master tone is what I was after. (I have already obtained a .22 cap to try it out)
Cheers. :D

Mike,

Thanks for posting that photo, that block looks fairly solid.

On a separate matter could you please load up or pm your pot. wiring modification, the volume pot on my Goldie seems to have died so whilst the soldering iron is being used I thought I would try your modification.
Thanks

I suppose they might have just sourced a new, cheaper, supplier of scratchplates? One other thought - would this pink Goldie have had ceramic pickups & cheap pots? If so, that would explain why an earlier owner would replace everything under the scratchplate, which is what I assume has happened. Th...

Mike, Haha  just what you would expect from Tokai....Tokailand where nothing is what it might at first appear. When I bought my IIV pickups it was as part of a loaded scratchplate, the pups were obviously Tokai, the switch was one of those nice ones and the pots were as I have seen many times i...
