Good choices. What type of caps were they?
Orange Drop. It was what came in the kit from Axesrus.

Just wanted to say thanks for the info and advice. I went for all 500k Log pots with a 0.022 cap in the bridge with a 0.015 in the neck. installed them yesterday, vintage style. My Guitar sounds brilliant now (oh yes, I also upgraded my pickups from Tokai Mk iv to mk ii) and the volume and tone cont...

I don't really get that there's only 2 wires coming out of the guitar but somehow part of the circuit just goes to ground and isn't involved in carrying the signal at all? The ground is usually part of the circuit isn't it? Use the 50's wiring scheme for your LP. That confuses me too. I wondered if...

This is what Tom Anderson says, he knows a bit about guitar building. His guitars are the best guitars I've ever seen. "I gave up on cts years ago. From the time they moved production to Mexico in the early 80's, they got worse and worse at quality control. They could not control end resistance or ...

Thanks Paladin, Mmm, food for thought. I figured 500k for the pots was right and I am leaning toward Logarithmic for the tone. So thanks for confirming this. Still not sure about linear or logarithmic for the volume. I was told that Linear would be better for someone like me who mostly plays at low ...

more advice on les paul wiring specs please

Having decided to replace the pots and wiring in my Love Rock, I now discover that I have to choose between logarithmic and linear pots, whether to use 500k or 250k pots. Oh and capacitors with a range of numbers that mean absolutely nothing to me! I play mostly the Blues with some classic rock thro...

Chaps, thanks for the replies. I take on board what you say. I made the assumption that CTS pots must be an improvement on Alphas based on the price difference. Jonah, I have swapped out the pickups, that is what prompted me to "upgrade" the rest of the electrics. Dave, thanks for sharing your exper...

cts pots and Korean Tokai Love Rock

I was thinking about upgrading the electrics in my Korean Love Rock with CTS pots, switchcraft toggle switch and Jack socket. The online store I asked advice from has advised that Tokais were built with Alpha pots or the equivalent if the guitar was made before 1993. Therefore the holes for the pots...

could you clear up some confusion in the wiring of my guitar

I have just installed some pickups in my Love Rock and I'm a little confused with the wiring as it does not seem to be right for the neck pickup. (This is the first time I have done any work on the electrics of any guitar). looking at relevant wiring diagrams it seems to me that the hot wire from th...

Here's an easy solution if you don't like the gold - have a go at the covers with wire wool. That's what I did to my Alnico IV in gold, which I bought when nickel was out of stock. The 'gold' covering is very thin indeed. The end result looks like the kind of dulled, 'antiqued' finish you get on th...

Thanks guys , I'm happy with this stuff , now I 'm looking for a nice ES. Does Tokai make ES135 copy's? Oh they certainly do. :D No they don't make an ES135 copy which is a single cutaway (think ES175) thin body with P90's in it: http://www.yearoftheriver.com/Gear/Instruments/pix/GibsonES135-1.jpg ...
