Hi, haven't posted for a while... There have been several cases like this in the past years, here's one previous notice from me, http://www.tokaiforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=15316 At first I thought they were Frankensteins but there are simply too many about. Maybe Tokai bought some lower end bo...

Looks real enough to me.
85 or later, Tokai basses look the same into the 90's (outside the US!) so it's almost impossible to date them exactly.
What is that "Oldies" decal doing?

Greco and Burny have made fine EB3s, stick with the mid 80's and you'll be alright.
What you AFAIK never get is the varitone switch, the Japanese replicas all use standard rhythm/treble switches. Shame! But there you go.

In Japan it is legal to call an object Made In Japan even if it has been made partly in another country, like China.
This has been made very clear time and again...

Sorry, I don't know anything about this specific model.
There is a very small image in the 1984 Tokai catalogue here:

I've never seen one with F-type tuners and would appreciate photographic evidence if I'm wrong.

Hello there, I'd guess it's authentic since it has a typical Tokai gig bag and also not a model usually copied. I won't guarantee anything though!
It's impossible to say what might be wrong with the neck pickup. You should probably assume you will have to replace it.

What's the use of having loads of sheet music if the naked girls won't let go of your guitar?
