Re: Tokai-UK lately?

Gotcha..... surprisingly, there are a LOT of people in the states that are searching for quality made MIJ guitars because they realize the value and the workmanship against all of the non custom shop crap that Fender and Gibson are putting out. Myself, I'll never buy anything from them off the rack ...

Re: Tokai-UK lately?

I just sold my walnut Epi Elite SG - with the correct, non export headstock. Aside from the slim neck profile (which is not my personal preference), it was an outstanding guitar and great sounding. I'd put it up against any non custom shop Gibson.

Re: Tokai Springy Sound 1978 newer than new

My 78 is exactly the same as this one - same color, same narrow plate with no serial number - instead it's inked on neck with it transferring backward in the neck pocket. Only difference that mine have the E stamped pickups: https://reverb.com/item/27474325-tokai-st-60-springy-sound-1978-w-hang-tag ...

Re: Tokai Springy Sound 1978 newer than new

Didn't the first year 78's have the narrow neck plate with no serial number on it - serial number stamped on the neck or pocket?
From the serial number, I'm guessing this is a 1980

Re: "This Forum"

I still visit and read .... don't have much to contribute anymore that hasn't already been said. Getting ready to unload a bunch of guitars and amps. No gigs really .... have been playing maybe once every month or two. Truth be told, I've lost interest in storing and maintaining about 30 guitars and...

Re: 1982 Tokai Springy Sound ST80

The E series pickups that came with ST80's are excellent, lower output vintage p'ups. You may prefer a more modern higher output wind.
Yes, play it for awhile... put new strings on it, get a proper set up with intonation, string and pickup height, etc. You might be surprised.

Re: best guitar

I still have my 1960's Harmony ukulele that my dad give me as a little boy ... my first stringed instrument. Like yours, the sentimental value is priceless because you will always think of your father and uncle when you play them. My dad has been gone for about 20 years but every time I look at that...

Re: 1982 Tokai Springy Sound ST80

I have two ST80's..... both have the vintage style tuners with the hole in the top to tuck your strings. Black saddles? "Different than original Fender parts"? Not sure what you mean by that.... shouldn't be any Fender parts on it at all. To my knowledge, all vintage Springy's prior to 83/84 have To...

Re: Tokai Love Rock with tele style body?

I did have one and loved it. Only sold it to help finance a vintage Gibson ES-330

It was every bit my LS150 from that same year (2008) minus the nitro finish. The Anniversary also had a nice wide neck. Really a cool one off type of guitar .... great player too.

Re: Tokai Love Rock with tele style body?

It was the Anniversary model (GA130) from 2007/2008 - available at that time from Tokai Germany (Gottfried)
