My name is also Marcus and I have an 81 ES100J.
As stated above, the only real distinguishing factors between the two pickup options are that the R pickups are hotter / higher in output.
Been a long time since I checked but my output on both pickups was below 8K

That's true. Although I haven't seen a 60 with Us myself. Nitro test?

I've had an ST60 with U pickups in it. Nitro test? Neither the ST50 or ST60 were nitro.

Re: reverb ST-80 can you guys let me know if you think genuine?
1977/1978 Springy's are considered first year issues for them. They are unique in that the early issues (up to mid year 78) had narrow neck plates which will not fit a serial number as you've shown. The serial numbers were inked on the bottom of the neck heel and the model number inked in the neck p...

Not Tokai but I've had two Greco 175's - a burst and a blonde. Great guitars - big sound perfect for jazz or swing.

Re: DRY Z Crushers!!!!
Since fawning about the Green Fazes, I'd since purchased a set of double cream Two's and put them into a 2005 Gibson Standard LP Faded and I can't believe how great they sound - I can see what Mitch was onto about them.

Re: Tokai-UK lately?
Gotcha..... surprisingly, there are a LOT of people in the states that are searching for quality made MIJ guitars because they realize the value and the workmanship against all of the non custom shop crap that Fender and Gibson are putting out. Myself, I'll never buy anything from them off the rack ...

Re: Tokai-UK lately?
I just sold my walnut Epi Elite SG - with the correct, non export headstock. Aside from the slim neck profile (which is not my personal preference), it was an outstanding guitar and great sounding. I'd put it up against any non custom shop Gibson.

Re: Tokai Springy Sound 1978 newer than new
My 78 is exactly the same as this one - same color, same narrow plate with no serial number - instead it's inked on neck with it transferring backward in the neck pocket. Only difference that mine have the E stamped pickups: https://reverb.com/item/27474325-tokai-st-60-springy-sound-1978-w-hang-tag ...

Re: Tokai Springy Sound 1978 newer than new
Didn't the first year 78's have the narrow neck plate with no serial number on it - serial number stamped on the neck or pocket?
From the serial number, I'm guessing this is a 1980
