Tokai LoveRock II, anyone?

Any experiences of this guitar? I?d really like to hear some comments. It looks quite neat to me and coiltapped pickups sound a good idea. Shape looks like 335, but smaller. All the comments are welcome. And especially, how much did you have to pay for it if you got one? Tokai-guitars.co.uk says the...

Btw, these "Tradition" pickups were totally full of wax, compared to others. For example ?85 pup?s had wax barely at all.

8,82k Rear and 8,6k Front.
Those look quite normal Tokai values to me. I?ve measured
few of them and I?ve had ?57PAF?s MK1 / MK2 /MK4?s.
On my ?85 LS they are 8,5k-R and 8,1k-F.

The problem is that I don?t know the model. These came with other brand guitar, and the seller told me they?re from Tokai LP from 90?s. That was he?s previous guitar and I don?t see any reason to doubt that. Not that they?re any special. I just got interested, because I?m giving them away and keep t...

Also the metal baseplate looks like it?s brass, though I?ve seen others like that. But it?s made of different metal than on my ?85 LS60:

Tokai Pickup (Tradition)

I?m looking for information of Tokai humbucker pickup, just curious. I removed chrome covers of Tokai paf-copies from 90?s and what I found get me interested. I?ve opened Tokai pickups before but never saw this before. Pickup had nice zebra coloured bobbins, black and white. Well, that?s normal, but...

Thank you for your time gyus. And especially to Mike, that?s the exact answer I was looking for. I think I?ll go with Gotoh Klusons, the locking ones. But the old ones I?m going to keep just in case I?ll want to return to originals one day or maybe find two good ones to get the whole set.

Well, I?d say if you got a good deal on gibson pickups, you won?t go much wrong. Of course there?s several other good makers too. I had Gibson Classic ?57+ pickups on my ?95 LoveRock. They were excellent quality. No squeals or humming. The tone was a bit too dark for me though. Should?ve needed more...

Tuners for Tokai strat?

Hello, I have Tokai ST-50 which I completely restored 1,5 years ago. Otherwise the guitar has been very good to play and sounds nice, except tuners. They?ve been starting to act lately. One of them resonates badly on certain notes and two of them has so much play on them that they don?t keep pitch a...

Just out of curiosity, I recall that my ?95 Love Rock LS-70: http://www.kotinet.com/marko.alatalo/Guitar/LS70/LS70_OAK2.JPG Has text SA-94 in the neck PUP cavity. I?ll verify this soon when I?ll replace the the neck pup (4th time!) again. I can take some pics of it too. Serial number 9502156 tells i...

Here?s something you might find interesting, in case you haven?t read it already: http://www.dinosaurrockguitar.com/interviews/MrX.shtml Maybe here?s the reason why people say, get a Tokai, Don?t get a Tokai, get a Gibbo, don?t... and so on. I always try to get to play nice guitars that I see on sho...

LondonBarry, thanks!! About the pickup: http://www.electrokraftpickups.com/ Guy named Tony makes custom handwound pickups for your request. Describe the tone and he?ll do it. I got also a set for my Squier Tele, with relatively high output and they are awesome. Highly recommended! Here?s the pickup ...

My Tokai ST50 project...

is now finished!! The result is very pleasing. Good rocking Goldstar sound is back. Lovely tone and stunning looks. Just as if I had a new guitar. Definitely worth every hour and Euro that I?ve spent. http://www.kotinet.com/marko.alatalo/Guitar/ST50/st501.jpg http://www.kotinet.com/marko.alatalo/Gui...

I?m totally with you guys. It really ruins the idea of Les Paul! Why I asked. Well, the band i was in, some ten years ago. The other guitarist got Tokai Love Rock with Floyd and I hated that guitar. It felt okay to play. Very much like fretless wonder. Very low frets and low action. But it sounded l...
