The bass obviously isn't pre 1985 due to the shape of the headstock. I also would be concerned that there is no serial number if the bass is claimed to be Japanese. I believe Korean instruments came out of the factory with no serial numbers. I would certainly want definitive answers before I parted ...

Here's the bass in question that I have just purchased. A rather nice 1984 JB50.

Jazz sound origin. Help please.

Can anyone help me to date a Jazz Sound bass with serial number L10962. It is probably around early 80s. Can I also assume that it is Japanese built. There is also a black oval sticker on the back of the neck down near the neck pocket which has the number 50 on it.

TOKAI ES 120 FOR SALE (SOLD)

This ES 120 is now for sale. It is a superb example and has been used very little since new. It is a 2003 model. This guitar is in impecable condition and comes complete with a Hiscox case. The photo taken with the guitar flat on the table shows the colour very light. The true colour is more like th...

The seller seems to be making a lot of claims about this guitar without any facts to back them up. No serial number anywhere. How then does he conclude that it was likely made in 1976 and is most probably a prototype? Despite a good track record in terms of feedback I would always want to know preci...

I have huge regrets about selling my Gibson 345 in the 70s. It was a real honey. Severe lack of finance meant I had to sell the guitar. It's a story told by millions of guitarists but it is also very real. Sorry, no pictures.

I always liked this forum as it didn't mention Tokai guitars. All the Tokai stuff appears on the TOKAI GUITARS forum. I'll let it go this time!

Good post tokaigeezer! I'll bet you have a really nice brace of guitars there. Good, well made guitars ready to serve their master. Plug 'em in and play until the sun goes down and beyond!

Hi ganzua - welcome to the forum! There is a great deal of good advice here to be had on the subject of solid and veneer tops. Do a search on the subject and you can find old threads which have dealt with this question. hans-jurgen is having a bit of a laugh suggesting that you ask me. There is no b...

Sunglassess are surely needed! Is that definitely a Gibson? I don't recall seeing a finish like that before. It looks kinda cheap and garish. Maybe it's the strong sunlight that the photo has been taken in. It just doesn't look right though. Come on experts!
