I have'nt had much experience with amps having never been in a band situation but I have an SJB 'Ant' combo which is really nice (class A 6L6 output valves). They are a little rare now as the Company has unfortunately closed down but worth checking out if any of you are looking for a good small amp....

Goldstar pickup change

Just fitted a set of Gold Lace pickups in my 80's Goldstar & they've transformed it! It still sounds like a strat should but the quality of the tone seems to have just gone up several levels. Anyone else got experience of this setup?

Love Rock

Re. differences between l.r. models. I have an old (80's) one that construction wise appears to be top of the range - 1 piece back, 2 piece top, zebra humbuckers, fretboard binding trimmed around the fret edges etc. The only thing is, the top is just a plain tobacco sunburst. Does anyone know what mo...

I used to build valve amps in the 60's (Mullard designs) for hi-fi & I once had an output trannie blow up when the speaker leads fell off - it started playing the music just before it went! very tinny sound though

I have a Celestion vintage reissue that I was hoping to fit but it's 10" & the one in the Ant is 12". I suppose I could make a sub baffle to try it though - maybe. Just got an Electro Harmonics 'Holy Grail' reverb & that just about makes it perfect. All I need now is to learn to play better!

SJB Ant

Just got an SJB 'Ant' combo off ebay & I've already been contacted by another bidder to buy it off me before it's been delivered! How good are these - has anyone had experience of one?

Yes, they were made from combinations of 'advanced' materials such as composite carbon fibre/fibreglass I believe. I have never seen one in the flesh but they are supposed to be high quality and probably cost more than the standard models. Hope this helps.

Special Breezysound

Can anyone help please? I've asked before but I keep hoping! Has anyone seen or heard of a Tokai Carl Perkins model? I saw one many years ago in a guitar shop but when I finally had the cash the place had shut down. I assume it was a limited edition as it was in an unusual blue satin finish and had ...

Just as a piece of information - I have an early 80's LR and it has a one piece mahogany back & two piece maple top (no flame) you can see the maple top goes past the binding inside the cutaway like on the early Gibbos. This guitar appears much lighter in weight than most LP's and resonates like the...

 My amp collection is sadly lacking at present I'm afraid. All I have is a Pignose (no, the amp!) which I have to say is great as far as it goes, a Shultz Rockman into headphones and a homebuilt Matchless (got the circuit off the net) which needs more work as it distorts all the time! I really...

One I forgot - the 'Comfortably numb' solo by Gilmour of course!

Have to agree with you + Jeff Beck plays mainly strats - what else is there to say?
