Re: Is this a high end Tokai?

Looks nice.
I’m no Love Rock expert, but I would assume it’s 2005.

Re: I finally became a very unhappy Tokai owner.

Sorry you’ve been ‘misled’. I can’t help, but reading your story reminded me of a similar situation my cousin got into with Fender. He bought a USA Strat via GAK. He’d chosen the guitar because of the spec (can’t remember exactly), but when it arrived it didn’t have the solid steel tremolo block, as...

Nice guitar.
1982 sounds spot on. Use and abuse it! 👍

Re: Need some fast help if possible with authentication of SS-60

The neck plate looks like a generic 'made in Japan' plate which was used on many makes of guitar in the '80s, i.e. Hondo.
Whatever it is, it could be good.
It could've been made in the Tokai factory, but doesn't look like a Tokai.

Re: Tokai guitar identification

Looks genuine enough to me.
The fingerboard looks like a round laminate one, not slab, so that would put it from the early 80s.
Price? I wouldn't pay more than £400 for it, but I'm a cheapskate.

Re: Shiiping guitar from Australia to USA

There's got to be someone on here who could act as a go-between, if that's what you want.
I'd help if I lived in Oz.

Re: Thoughts...

The only thing I can say, is that it has a rosewood laminate fingerboard, which is correct.
Bridge looks correct.
Need more pics to be sure.

I bought my ST50 Goldstar new in 1983.
The body and neck stamps don't match.

Re: ST40

Oh, and the L serial numbers should be rosewood board, surely!

Re: ST40

In that case, the saddles have been replaced from Final Prospec to the older Tokai ones.
Also, the bridge block has 'made in Japan' stamped on it.

Re: ST40

It's an interesting guitar, Suki.
Why do you think it's 1984/5/6?
Everything looks okay to me for the entry level Springy Sound from 1982.
The L serial number doesn't quite add up, in my opinion, but I'm sure someone will advise.
Does anyone else have concerns?

All looks legit for an '81 guitar to me.
Round laminate fingerboard is my favourite.

Re: Springy Sound under the hood Question

Original Springy would have round veneer rosewood fingerboard, not slab.
