Re: Springy Sound under the hood Question

Original Springy would have round veneer rosewood fingerboard, not slab.

Great debate, but let's not get personal. My own opinion is that - if I'd bought an ST guitar from 1980ish, I'd like clarification on why the pickups are different to every other Tokai from that era. They could well be Fernandes pickups which got mistakingly installed in the factory, but would this ...

Nice looking guitar. Is it Japanese? My way of measuring fretboard radius is simple - use a protractor or ruler to draw a circle (part of a circle) on a piece of paper. Alternatively, use a piece of string 9.5" long and use it draw a part circle. Cut the piece of paper to use as a template to check ...

Buy it, man.
Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
It can only go up in price, once you've had your use out of it!
Just don't tell my wife I said that. 👍

Legit? Goldstar on Ebay.

I believe the neck is correct, but the body just doesn't seem right to me.
Am I getting sceptical in my old age?

Found my original Registry entry!

I searched the registry and found my original entry from years ago. It is around the 180th entry and I guess around 2004. I see I joined here in August 2004 and was the 800th member. I obviously didn't know it was Olympic White. Yes, I still have it. The registry is a useful tool, but not easy to us...

Tokai Goldstar - is perfect tuning impossible?

Well, after my last post about intonation, I've uploaded a new video on the subject which I hope will start a bit of discussion. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=QaB2P-Cnugw&feature=youtu.be I think I've found that perfect intonation is impossible on an electric guitar. I believe perfect intonation is ...

I think the whole intonation issue is a compromise on a Strat.
You either have the guitar in tune perfectly with lower output, or slightly out of tune with the pickups nearer the strings.
I've posted a new topic on this point, with a new video.

No, the block logo was late 1982 and early 1983.
I bought my guitar in November 1983 and it's the like the one above.
I have adverts from October 1982 for Tokai Strats with the block logo.
