Would an st60 be finished in nitro? The seller claimed nitro but i can’t see any sign of the grain coming through.

1984 st50 (now with working photos)

I picked this up a couple of months ago and finally got to restringing it and taking a few photos. It was sold to me as an 84 st50. Everything straight and plays beautifully. Can anyone confirm model and year please. https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4601/39404166912_d3a76c62b5_h.jpg Tokai st50 by jonw...

Hi gitaro - welcome to the forum. There is a list of codes on the forum a few weeks ago in one of the threads but I can't find it right now so keep searching. The 10=5 type codes appear to relate to the date of manufacture and typically the control cavity code is similar to the code on the end of th...

St50 goldstar daphne blue

I'm looking at this st50 on eBay in daphne blue allegedly 1984. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/192283378339 The seller kindly shared photos of the neck, cavity and pickups here : http://imgur.com/a/aso2Q questions for the forum: 1: is it an st-50? 2: is the lack of serial number normal? 3: is that a Tok...

Thanks for the info Peter - Tokai forum really is a mine of useful information.

Absolutely loving this guitar. One thing that interests me is the inlaid logo on the headstock - did they really spend time doing that on all the models?

Someone's handywork with the soldering iron in the body cavity:

Possibly mono's though I know Snakeyhips replaced the pickups so it might be his or his luthier's.

Ah mark (villager) the beauties on your site and your comments on this forum are two of the main reasons I ended up with a Tokai. Now where did you get this guitar from?

I really must come up with a name for her.....

Mono, spikey - thanks for the info. Spikey - who's the mark you bought it from? Spikey/Mono - I'd love to get hold of some photos of you playing it in any of your bands. Especially if it made it to France. I'm no expert on nitro finishes, but my mate Bryn who loves his guitars says all the Tokai LPs...

LS-80 Reborn '79 info please

I had a new guitar day a couple of weeks ago thanks to snakeyhips. I've finally got around to taking some photos and I'd love to know some more history on her as I know several of the forum members have owned her. I'd be even happier to find dates, names you gave her, bands she's played in and as an...

I've just well and truly scratched the new guitar itch and bought this fine old girl from mr snakeyhips. Thank you to John who entertained me and the teenager for far longer than was necessary for a guitar sale. And thanks to those of you who have looked after her all these years. I promise to look ...
