Rare MB Headstock Strat-Can I learn more about this please?

I've got one of these - it's still got the oval sticker with 55 (ST55). I haven't taken the scratchplate off in years but it definitely doesn't have a sticker with Patent Applied For in it. I got mine about 1986 from a shop in the midlands (near Birmingham). It played brilliantly and it...

    Which Tokai Model?

Hi there and welcome to the forum. If I were you, I'd keep it simple and choose a guitar that fits into your budget. Whilst you say they all sound the same, you haven't said whether any of them match your criteria in terms of the tone that you're aiming to achieve. If they all sound the same...

    TLS-80GT or NOT?

I would go with the seller and say it's made in Japan - it's got a serial no, the circuit board is Japanese, the pick-ups look like they've got 'Japan' embossed where the sticker is located. The truss rod cover's been changed and that's usually a giveaway indicator. 2002 Love Rock? There are...

    Tokai Parts Clearout - Feeler

I've got a couple of photos uploaded - I've only got the two remaining tone controls so should indicate whether any spares you have are a match. The photos probably don't reflect the colour of the controls but they're quite yellow, have aged much more than the other plastics. I don't really...

    Tokai Parts Clearout - Feeler

You don't list one on your posting but do you (or anyone else UK-based) have a volume knob for a goldstar - mines bust and thought I'd try and get an original part if one is out there Cheers T

2000 MIJ Tokai LS65... Worth it?

I've got a 2001 LS-65 in same finish and think it's a fantastic guitar for the money. The base model at that time was an LS-60 which I think had a 3 piece body, (maybe 3 piece top?). The LS-65 has 2 piece body, 2 piece centre joined solid maple top. It's not got a long neck tenon, MK2...

Tokai tweed Springy case on eBay? $213?

It (the tokai one) is not actually a great quality case, it's very thin and feels quite flimsy - the ones in the link from marcus look far more substantial with their multi-ply build. Great price on them too.

Tokai tweed Springy case on eBay? $213?

It's the same case that I got with my ST-50 springy sound (bought in Tokyo) so think it's the original tokai. You're right though cali girl, there are no markings on the case to identify as Tokai, unlike the one's that went with the LS series. Mine's probably not worth as much as the one in...

    Breezy

Just to chip in. I used to have a breezysound with L serial number. It had a (black) double bound body, rosewood fretboard and 3-barrel saddle. It had the 7okai logo on it. No longer owned it, sold it to some guy in France on ebay a few years ago. I don't know how accurate it was to a...

I am sorry, but I have to bring this one up once more:

People are right to point out the condition of the instrument as being an issue when it comes to agreeing a price; I think the question though was about the guitar's authenticity. SleazyJesus - can you actually demo this guitar before you part with your cash?

I am sorry, but I have to bring this one up once more:

There are only questions to raise about this one. It looks a bit unusual: it could be a legitimate model with a replacement scratchplate (one with extra holes) or it could be a Tokai that was put together from two different guitars. Deluxe tuners and saddles were on very late Springy Sounds so...

    Gold star one piece body???

How would anyone be able to tell from that description if it's a one piece body or not? Why is the question relevant - have you looked the guitar over yourself?

    Goldstar modified headstock shape when?

i think we're building up a picture here of fragmented distribution: Blue Suede Music, Audio Factors, Tokai UK....(gap)....Tokai Guitars UK. I'm not sure where the 1985 theory comes from for the headstock shape change. I'm certain I bought mine in 86 and Tokais were plentiful at that time...
