Got this for a great price on eBay. Needs a solid setup though. Took it to a gig last night and shouldn't have and, well, I paid the price. It sounds phenomenal, regardless, and am about to drop it off to a newly recommended luthier.
Graphtech bridge, Bigsby, Seymor Duncan P90s...
All Mahogany
No fret nibs
Ebony Fretboard
Full body/headstock Binding
Poly finish
Tokai MKII P90s
Gigged once or twice
Replaced a Gibson Traditional P90 because it beat it in sound, quality, and playability.
Nice 50s neck. Not super thick, not super thin. I'd say a C profile.
Action...
Fender is actually about to start doing direct custom shop sales to customers.
I spoke with Nakane at Rockin. He can broker custom instruments between customers and Tokai. Prices are gonna be slightly inflated since there is a middle man, but it may still be worth the time/effort.
Took a pic of the Tokai control cavity. Will do so for the Gibson tonight.
Put some fresh strings on the Tokai and it was sounding good last night. May have had some dead strings on it.
