Upgrading my Tokai Silverstar SS40 -> nut, tuners, bridge

Here's the update folks (very late, I know ) : I got the bone nut installed, and it makes a huge difference. The problem I had on the low E string totally disappeared and in addition the stability of tuning has been greatly improved :) No need to change the tuners. Anyway I had ordered...

Upgrading my Tokai Silverstar SS40 -> nut, tuners, bridge

Update : I installed the Wilkinson WV6SB Bridge and it fits perfectly my old Tokai. I just had to slighly sand off the right side of the pickguard to allow the holes to align perfectly. I wasn't that lucky with the tuners. Even though the shape of the Fender 70's tuners is very close to the...

Upgrading my Tokai Silverstar SS40 -> nut, tuners, bridge

Thanks for sharing your experience! I've bought the first 2 elements on ebay : some 70's fender tuners + a Wilkinson WV6SB Bridge for 100 bucks incl. shipping. Then I'll ask a guitar tech to install a custom nut. I'll keep you posted on the result when I have everything set up properly. Cheers!

Tokai SS 70's CBS Strat Copy

Here is a pic of the Tokai that I bought in Tokyo last summer. It's a Silver Star from 1981, according to the serial number 1015659. All typical details from the CBS Strat are here : large headstock, bullet truss rod and a 3 bolt neck. It guess it would be a SS48, butI'm not 100% sure because...
