Something i've been curious about for a while. The Tokai catalogues indicate that left handed ALS 48/50/55 only come in 2 colours, CS and VF but i've noticed a few HDCs available from some online retailers. Will these be legit? Maybe custom colour orders?

I have one of these MIC Tokais from 2013, the one i have has a mahogany body with a thick maple cap with a veneer on top.

What guitar centre up there has a lefty Tokai then? :lol:

Usually they do have the dimple, i suppose some must slip through the net sometimes. Fantastic looking LC tho...

Ok got the nut replaced and have been playing it constantly, it is an excellent guitar i must say. True vintage tone from this baby... very impressive! Any way i gave it a good clean up, got most of the tarnishing off the saddles and bridge, very pleased with this Goldie.

I have played it for all of 5 seconds... The strings sounded dull and wouldn't ring out properly, so i thought i would change them. When changing them, the nut that was on the guitar(non original) came away in at least 3 pieces,(Nightmare!) so i've ordered a new bone nut and am waiting for it to...

The neck is a v neck(not a pullover) although it's not a 4 digit serial, it's a 5 digit serial number. For me an excellent '56 replica. *Edit* Oops, not '56 but '54. :oops:

You are most probably right Mike, just thinking about the extra yen for being a lefty as well as the custom colour. Can't wait to play it...

Yes it does... OMB colour code, Old Metallic Blue perhaps? V stamped pickups, i think this could be an elusive lefty tst-65/70, i am trying to get a hold of the original owner to see if he remembers what sticker was on it.

Got the Goldie today, first thing that struck me was the weight... Heavier than my Fender Japan reissue and also my new mexican standard.

I hope so, the goldie arrives today i'll get some proper pics up when it comes. I eventually got it for ?390, so not too bad. Can't wait!!!!

Thanks for the info, i decided to go with the Goldie and should have it by Friday. The guy said he would say it was in 8/10 condition as opposed to the other guy saying it was average condition on Monday. Anyway, looking forward to getting this one, it was between the Goldie or an '88 Fender...

I suppose most owners of these guitars wouldn't know of the significance of these stickers at purchase... So when it comes to TST or ST Tokais, which are considered higher end? I was told that if they have Kluson style tuners they up the higher end of the scale, not that it bothers me... I'm...

The colour of the lefty does look blue in the pics, when i spoke to the guy at the guitar shop he said it was bluey/green, so i only have his word on it. Do the Tokais not have any markings in the neck pocket to determine the model no.? Like Fender Japan for instance.
