Finally... a quilt top in the lineup

I don't have it in hand yet... but it's item 250578869820 on US eBay (advanced search, completed listings) a 2003 ALS75Q by my reckoning. I BINned it for USD 649. I couldn't bear six days of suspense. Pix in a few days.

    Almost Tokai.com update

Mick, things are well. Guitar count up to 19. I pickup up the DLX-2004 off fleabay about a year ago for USD 400 in part because of the squib on registry.com (it's not a Fakai, I thought), and in part because it was a STUNNING guitar. I was relieved to find that it had a great neck ... but...

    Almost Tokai.com update

All the DLX-2004s I've seen until this one (and I own one like the one in the links at http://www.tokairegistry.com/tokai-info/tokai-models.html#dlx) have been bursts. Also, the tokairegistry.com link above seems to state that the DLX-2004 is not a Fakai, as opposed to the "5 digit wonders"...

Fakai alert "LS-95F" 5 digit SN

On eBay, evidence of current Fakais.

You must have another VF 5A LR... you couldn't possibly be parting with your only one. ???

Why did the SC-2C fail in the N. American market?

togps, there is a "guitar USB output" system on the market, the Shadow Quick Mount system, made in Deutschland. Shadow QM Shadow home page (The flags for languages are very small, top left.) The Shadow mounts externally on top of the guitar body. Perhaps you could put Shadow and...

Why did the SC-2C fail in the N. American market?

togps, the electronics are small enough, it's simply that no one has done it, not even Godin, who have models with a complete piezo preamp and 3-band EQ in them. I use a cognac burst Godin LGX-SA with a Roland GR-20 for MIDI stuff. Nice guitar, but a Godin is not a Love Rock, and there's less...

    Why no Tokai HSS?

stratman323... true, not a "classic" SSS, but if you played an HSS, you would see there's a place in the world for the Fat Strat. The neck of a Strat, the pinch harmonics of a bridge 'bucker, they are sweet.

Why did the SC-2C fail in the N. American market?

I learned today that Gibson sued Tokai again over the SC-2C. IMO, Tokai could have won that suit (but not the Love Rock suit). Tokai gave up on N.Am. Anyway, NOS SC-2Cs are going for USD 550 to 600. Does Gibson sue Collings over the City Limits? No, but Gibson sure won't cut Tokai any slack.

Why did the SC-2C fail in the N. American market?

The SC-2C is a great guitar, but failed miserably in the marketplace. Why? My theory: the lack of acceptance was due to 2 factors: although a gorgeous guitar, it didn?t look enough like an LP, and there are plenty of used, lawsuit Tokai LPs on eBay. I think Tokai should take a page from...

    Why no Tokai HSS?

IMO, Fender totally missed several decades of new model opportunities by not launching the "fat Strats" (HSS complement of pups) earlier. They still don't have an HH or HHH Strat. I have a fat Strat and it has magnificent tone off the bridge pup... very close to a P-90 LP Jr. in tone, but with...

    Please Help Identify These!

Another piece of AMP's handiwork. By the "(from 2004!!)" phrase I was trying to signal OLD THREAD. JSD was probably misled like the other retailers supplied by AMP.

    Please Help Identify These!

This is the only thread (from 2004!!) I found that mentions the Tokai Deluxe, abalone purfling and truly weird headstock, love it or hate it. Is the 2004 Deluxe another Active Musical Products fake? The year, the "Canada only" market, and the absence of the "Deluxe" model in any Tokai Gakki...
