i'm just curious and already had a set of grovers in a box. i do find the Gotoh tuners pretty good, but just a bit "crunchy" when dialing in the string pitch.
Anyone change out the tuners on their Edwards Page models for Grovers? I'm thinking about putting in some Rotomatics, but don't want the guitar to become neck heavy.
I'm thinking about selling this guitar, but am not sure exactly what it is. It seems to be a mint collection EGF model..not a 1200 though. No fret edge binding...the pickups were switched out to Gibson Burstbuckers, so I can't ID from the originals. Possibly an 850 or 1000? Thanks for any...
Hi Marcus - I know you are quite familiar with these guitars. Thanks I'll gently work with them a bit a see what happens.
UPDATE: That worked..they are tight but using a fork to pry while rocking back and forth eased them right off.
Hi Jonas,
Thanks for the excellent response! I'll look into the Faber bridge right away. Regarding the knobs, did your guitar have the super circuit? If so, just wondering how you pulled the old ones off? The pot shafts seem too fragile to take much tugging and pulling.
Got a new Edwards Page relic today. This model has the super switching circuit. The previous owner had a luthier do a headstock conversion to read Gibson. I have a bunch of Gibson historic parts here that I usually upgrade my MIJs with and was wondering if anybody else has had much luck doing...
The Edwards came in today. It's weird how light it is - 7.4 lbs.
Here are a couple of pics next to my Greco.
The super circuit pots have these thin little shafts. I had wanted to pull the knobs and put on the correct ones, gold, not amber, but the knobs aren't sliding off. The pots seem...
Thanks for the input. I should have the Page by Friday and will post a pic or two. Also, if I decide to sell the Greco, I'll put it up here first.
I will complete the Page with all the nice accessories such as AL tailpiece, new bridge, correct knobs and pickup rings and switch tip as I...
I just bought a beautiful Edwards JP Relic. I currently have an '89 mint collection EGF Greco honeyburst as well. I think it's either an EGF850 or 1000.
I was curious to know what the experts think about long term investment value. In 10-20 years will the Greco be worth more, or were the JP...
No gunky finish...it's fine under the rings. there is a little weirdness with the junction of the fingerboard and guitar top that doesn't show too much in that picture.
Here's another photo that you can see the fingerboard/top junction in. There's a little break in the flame pattern running...
