Just fitted a set of Gold Lace pickups in my 80's Goldstar & they've transformed it! It still sounds like a strat should but the quality of the tone seems to have just gone up several levels. Anyone else got experience of this setup? Joe :D

Re. differences between l.r. models. I have an old (80's) one that construction wise appears to be top of the range - 1 piece back, 2 piece top,zebra humbuckers, fretboard binding trimmed around the fret edges etc. The only thing is, the top is just a plain tobacco sunburst. Does anyone know...

I used to build valve amps in the 60's (Mullard designs) for hi-fi & I once had an output trannie blow up when the speaker leads fell off - it started playing the music just before it went! very tinny sound though :lol: Joe

I have a Celestion vintage reissue that I was hoping to fit but it's 10" & the one in the Ant is 12". I suppose I could make a sub baffle to try it though - maybe. Just got an Electro Harmonics 'Holy Grail' reverb & that just about makes it perfect. All I need now is to learn to play better! Joe

Yes, they were made from combinations of 'advanced' materials such as composite carbon fibre/fibreglass I believe. I have never seen one in the flesh but they are supposed to be high quality and probably cost more than the standard models. Hope this helps. Joe
