    Fujicon caps

What type of caps are the big black Fujicon caps that are mounted in many Grecos (and maybe other brands too)? Are they paper in oil caps? I've got two Greco Les Pauls (-80 and -89) and both of them have these caps. Do you replace them or are they considered to be good? I've just installed...

Neck heel construction on late Mint collection (EG-1000D)?

Thanks for your answers and sorry for a late reply. Ah yes scarf joint is the correct term (my english could really be better 8) ) So even early Mint collection could have scarf joints, interesting. Cliff, I'm curious on what you wrote in your deleted comment. Any more good info? I see you...

Neck heel construction on late Mint collection (EG-1000D)?

Hi Have a -89 Les Paul that was bought as an EG59-1000D model some years ago (http://www.tokaiforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=8292&highlight=eg1000d). It has Seymour Duncan PU's but what makes me confused is the neck heel that looks like it is made of 2 pieces. I've been wondering about this since I...

Thanks again Japanstrat, I will do the nitro test to see if it could be a 900. Anyway it's a great guitar.

Which 1980 Les Pauls had 2 piece top's?

Thanks for great info Japanstrat :D It seems like the EG450 and 480 have sycamore tops, is there an easy way to see the difference between maple and sycamore (isn't sycamore some kind of maple too?)? Does a Sycamore top affect the weight on the guitar compared with a maple top? If the EG480...

Which 1980 Les Pauls had 2 piece top's?

I bought a 1980 Greco Les Paul (with Super Real logo) almost a year ago but I still don't know for sure which model it is (see this thread http://www.tokaiforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=7995). According to japanstrat's answer in that thread, 2-piece tops were only found on EG-700 and up. Recently...

Help me ID a Greco SG

Hi I had a Greco SG some years ago that looked like yours (I belive it was from -89 too), black with dot inalys, Screaming PU. I was told from a japanese friend that it was a Kanako Nakayama signature model (as I understand a famous female guitarist in Japan, played with a band called Princess...

    Greco Mint, which model? EG???

Thanks guys Yes the neck heel is a multi piece, that made me a little confused. I thought the mint collection Grecos had a one piece neck, at least if it's not a low end model. Is this something that appears on the late Mint collection guitars? Saw the same construction on the Ebay Greco from...

    Greco Mint, which model? EG???

Got me another Greco, a cherry sunburst from -89. Don't know which model it is, so any info is appreciated. Serial number 9 xxxx and the open O in the Greco logo would mean a -89 from the Mint collection, right? 2 piece back and veener top over maple cap. It has long neck tennon and a pair of...

    Greco Super Real identifiction

Thanks for great info :) . This would mean it's an EG700 or higher because it has a 2 piece top. If I remember correct from the catalog scans, the EG800 didn't have any pickup covers so then it's down to EG700 or EG900 (if the PU's are original on my guitar). This one has become a favourite...

Ok thanks. What's the difference between a 450, 500 and 700? Any specific signs on this guitar that makes it a 450/500?

    Greco Super Real identifiction

Hi, received this guitar last friday. It's a Greco Super Real EG (plain top) from -80 but I have no idea which model. Anyone who could help me? It's very much in players condition with a lot of scratches and "dings" but the top is in good condition and evrything works as it should. It looks...

Burny on Ebay MIJ or Korean

Could maybe be a new "high-end" Burny. They are made in Japan and have 3 screws on the truss rod cover (at least on Fernandes site). http://www.fernandes.co.jp/burny/rlc/rlc115_rlg105_main.html But who knows... could be MIK too (probably). If it's a RLG105 it should have a long neck tennon...

    Some Tokai LS85F questions

Got some questions about this model. How is the neck profile on these? 59 style or fatter? I've heard that Tokai have quite fat necks (never had a chance to play one)? I suppose they don't have a long neck tennon? I had set my mind on an Edwards LT90 but now I think the Tokai looks great...
