FS: 80s MIJ Burny SG in the UK

No fret edge binding. I'm looking for around ?400 but am open to offers. One has just gone on Ebay for ?275, which when you factor in the shipping from Japan (?65), taxes and customs charges (about ?30-40 at least) and the case (?50) would makes it about ?425. And it was black which isn't as...

FS: 80s MIJ Burny SG in the UK

Hi folks Wondered if anyone might be interested before I go to Ebay. Specs: Cherry '61 style VH1 pickups (labels on pickup rings) Wide and chunky (for an SG) neck with correct headstock angle Hardware is tarnished - what Gibson would call 'authentic' and charge you extra for  I think...

    Questions about "vintage" Burny's.

Hi ian I still look in occasionally. When I first got involved it was during a very quiet period at work so I was on here all the time! I'd just bought an 81 ES100J from Lee (oldflame to you guys) and wanted to find out about it. It was great fun chatting to other Tokai owners and learning...

    burny sg double neck

My Burny SG has VH-1s and I think they sound great. Nice and open sounding but enough grunt too. Plugged into my Marshall that lovely old Cream-era Clapton tone is there in spades. I've tried various SDs, Dimarzios and some British handwound stuff but wouldn't swap the VH-1s for any of them. The...

    Questions about "vintage" Burny's.

I have a Burny single cut Les Paul Special (TV finish) and a cherry SG. Both great guitars, no serial numbers. I've seen a few SGs cropping up over the last few years but never another LP Special. Anyone else out there seen or got one?

    Spot the difference

    Is it a Tokai: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2546752175&category=2384 or is it a Squire: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2547532786&category=2384 ?

    Can we keep him? Huh?

Ah, but surely thats the point - a battery powered mini Marshall doesn't claim to sound like a Boogie Dual Rectifier so I wouldn't have that expectation of it. However, modelling amp manufacturers make some very bold claims for their products and I just don't think they live up to them. As I say...

    Can we keep him? Huh?

My tuppence worth: I've not tried the Variax, but in terms of modelling amps I just don't rate them. I tried recently to get a good sound out of a Line6 amp at a studio and just had to give up in the end. Every sound I got from it just sounded flat compared to the 'real' amps in the studio...
