    Just 'pimped' my Jazz Sound.

Orsum!!! 8) I'm not a bass player, but even I can appreciate that. Nice job dude! Reminds me of the Precision that the late, great Howie Epstein played in the golden years of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers! Altogether now: "She was... an American Girl!" Ahh.... Got me reaching for my...

    E bay prices

Trouble is, you may been beaten by a fiver, but the temptation then would have been to have got involved in a bidding war, and before you know it you've paid way, way over the odds! If I see something I like, I stick my max bid on it then forget about it until I get the email from Ebay telling...

My Beautiful Trio of 'Jazz Sounds' (lots of piccies).

:o Wow! That looks tailor-made for the Tokai doesn't it? Nice job! I much prefer that scheme too. Far more individual.

    New To Tokai

That's a good looking Reborn! 8) I'd have the newer one though, for the simple reason that I like flame maple tops. Either would be an excellent choice. Tokai Japan don't make any bad guitars, simple as that. The Reborn will probably appreciate more in value though.

Any good suggestions for modding a Tokai LS-230

I've got a Gibson "Standard" TRC on mine. I like the look of it, and it fits with just one more screw hole about 5mm up from the original top one. Mods on mine are limited to a pair of locking buttons, the above mentioned TRC and some Grover Deluxe tuners in original design, but...

My Beautiful Trio of 'Jazz Sounds' (lots of piccies).

Word is that Stevie Ray Vaughan used a Tokai for a good while, and Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top was a major Tokai player too as I recall. I used to think Tokai were "Cheap copies" until I knew better. If I was ever buying new guitars again now it'd be Tokai every time. I just don't see how you can...

This guy's site is well worth a read: http://mrglyn.blogspot.com/2008/11/reducing-hum-screening.html He's currently removing necks from vintage acoustics using steam injection. :o Brave man! He's got bigger balls than I have.

Yeah, but you imagine how good Cream would have sounded if Jack Bruce had played a Stingray? 8)

Nice pictures! 8) They cleaned up really well. I've had Strats that have been a bit "Buzzy" but I've cured them with massive amounts of copper shielding. It's very cheap on Ebay, so maybe that will do the job okay for you? Details here: http://www.tokaiforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=12119

I remember at the time the phrase "And now... with the book?" became quite popular amongst my pals.

You guys have got to see this!!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FroICbwvJII I remember seeing this in (I think) 1990 and I've just found it again on YouTube. Brilliant! Don't know how they got all those players together just for five minutes, but I'm glad they did. Enjoy! 8)

    Tokai Sg - tuning stability?

http://mrglyn.blogspot.com/2008/11/gibson-sg-neck-re-set.html Like that? I don't know how common it is to be honest. I had an SG and mine was fine. I liked it a lot. It sounded great, played well and easily and looked good. The only reason I got rid of it was because it was so badly balanced...

opinions please on Tokai Thunderbird Made in China

My younger brother has owned pretty much every expensive bass known to man in his time, and all he has now are Tokais. he loves them. I don't think you'll go too far wrong for that price. Assuming that's the type of bass you want? There's a reason whay almost every hit record was done on either...

Hey guys - what exactly is / was this ?

Bleurgh! That looks more like some sort of martial arts weapon than a guitar. I bet that front pickup sounds nice too.

    Love Rock Mods

Hmm. Interesting sound for a Love Rock. Doesn't sound much like my one, but then you can never tell from an audio clip really. If it plays good and sounds good to you then it is good, simple as that. Your bit of Black Dog" raised a smile. That's always the first thing I play when I pick up my...
