Hondo II Pro - Fender Lead Copy

That's plausible. Having read a few bits and pieces it seems the main discrepancy as to why people think they were made by Tokai is the similar style serial number but from I've seen it's usually located at the top of the neck plate with Tokais, not the middle. Plenty of other examples of people...

Hondo II Pro - Fender Lead Copy

I'm not really surprised it doesn't have quintessential Tokai quality in it's features. However, it's interesting that it looks like a cap from a '90s Tokai because most other examples of this guitar and Hondo II Pro Strats are stated to be from the early to mid '80s (also when the Fender Lead...

Hondo II Pro - Fender Lead Copy

Sharing some pics and what I know about this guitar, and hoping to get some of your own opinions on it and knowledge! I've heard rumours that Hondo II Pros were allegedly built by Tokai in the 80s (this guitar was apparently built between '81 and '82). I can neither prove nor disprove that...

WTB: Springy or Goldstar Strat in UK

Sorry I should state the price range I'm looking for. Is it possible to find something around ?300-350? Am I dreaming? I appreciate I won't get a mint guitar; happy to buy an old workhorse though!

WTB: Springy or Goldstar Strat in UK

Hi, I'm still new to the forum so apologies if I'm posting in the classifieds too soon without making a name for myself, but I'm looking to buy my first Tokai Strat and was wondering if anybody has anything they were thinking of selling in the near future? I'm hoping to find a maple neck...

    Difference between ST70s and ST60/80s

Ah okay - I guess I didn't know the ST70 was a 58RI, I thought the catalogue just said '64. Definitely looks laminated though. Must be a nice guitar!

    Difference between ST70s and ST60/80s

That's what I thought looking at the ST range. It doesn't seem to represent cost. Koubayashi, that looks lovely. Does it have a glued on fingerboard or a skunk stripe on the back?

    Difference between ST70s and ST60/80s

Is a laminated maple fingerboard any different to a one piece maple neck other than just aesthetics? I imagine a one piece will probably be slightly more desirable because of the "mojo". I have a Hondo II Pro copy of a Fender Lead II (allegedly made by Tokai) which has a laminated fretboard...

    Difference between ST70s and ST60/80s

I was looking at this table: http://www.tokairegistry.com/tokai-info/tokai-fender.html And saw that a 6 digit serial number can indicate an ST70, then saw this 1982 catalogue which on the top right shows an"ST70" as a new product: http://www.tokairegistry.com/images/catalogs/volume534.jpg It...

    Difference between ST70s and ST60/80s

Hi, I'm new to the forum and looking to get my first Tokai Strat. As well as the Tokai Registry's own guide on Fender copies I found S-Blues' post from this thread very helpful in identifying different models: http://www.tokaiforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=2823 (bottom half of the 1st page) I...
