Unusual serial number on my Tele?

Just thinking if the neck had been refinished, check the photos on the link, the stamp on the heel of the neck is still ok so it doesn't seem to have been stripped, can you remove the logo without sanding or stripping it?

Unusual serial number on my Tele?

Yes, that is my tele. Has it been a topic of debate? I am deeply honoured. I did wonder if someone had changed the neck-plate, the neck does not look refinished, or it's a very nice job, but then why stick with the Tokai logo?

Unusual serial number on my Tele?

Yes, the bridge plate is stamped TOKAI. Everything about it seems correct except for an unusual serial number. I've had this guitar for about 10 years and bought it from an ordinary guy who know very little about guitars.

Unusual serial number on my Tele?

I've added a pic of the neck plate showing the serial number, it's a V alright.

Unusual serial number on my Tele?

Hi guys, can you help me with my Tokai tele? it's a pre 1982 model, blonde and has an unusual serial number; V019381, does this make it a 1981 model? what is the significance of the V? There are some pics on photobucket; http://s81.photobucket.com/albums/j203/firebird65/Tokai%20Tele/...

    God awful Orange/why I love my Tok's

Great live version of Maid in Heaven on one of the 'Old Grey Whistle Test' DVDs, I can't remember if it's the second or third one. Also check-out the King Crimson performance from 1980ish, it's amazing.

    Intonation problem on one string.

No problem. Let us know the result. I can also recommend a good guitar and amp tech in Morayshire, if anyone gets that far north. Paul.

    Intonation problem on one string.

Well my brother came up with two techs in Edinburgh, there's LIVE music on Leven Street, (0131 229 2829), I think he mentioned a guy called Phil (also said that Phil doesn't charge enough for his work - bonus), and also there's a good tech at Sound Control (0131 557 3986) on St Marys street...

    Intonation problem on one string.

My brother worked in Scayles music in Edinburgh until last week, I'll ask him to recommend a tech and where to get a nut. I'll try and get hold of him today or tomorrow. Keep watching ths skies.

    Intonation problem on one string.

Getting the nut is not a problem, you can find a guitar shop in a magazine or on the internet, getting a tech may be more of a problem, your local guitar shop should help, what part of the world are you in?

    Intonation problem on one string.

Sounds like the nut slot is not cut deep enough, causing the string to play sharp, dont cut it without the correct file cos you'll end up with the wrong shape cut and it'll grab the string or some other horror, get a tech to do it.

    Yuck

A common act of abuse in the '80s and early '90s. Why not just buy a superstrat? Mr Kahler should be spinning in his grave (if he's dead) because of the torture he allowed to be inflicted on innocent Les Pauls (real ones too). But I suppose you can do whatever you want to your own guitar, and if...

    Gibson goes after Tokai

I dont think that the standard Les Paul (not LP Standard) is much more expensive than it was 20 years ago, taking inflation into consideration, but the re-issues, signature models, fancy finishes, custom aged etc... are a crazy price, you could easily buy a beautiful genuine '56 Les Paul for...
