    Sycamore top appreciation thread

It's not exactly a Tokai and it's rather pricey (it's handmade though), but THIS beaut has some beautiful Sycamore: http://www.indoorstorm.com/product_info.php?products_id=3138

    you guys seen these?...

Found one of the above FL's on Digimart: http://www.digimart.net/gk_detail.do?instrument_id=DS00235909 Also one of the "pazzle" ones :D: http://www.digimart.net/gk_detail.do?instrument_id=DS00203196 ...and I happen to really dig this one (even has a Wilkinson VS400 trem)...

    you guys seen these?...

I really dig their "puzzle" models (sometimes listed as "pazzle" :D) which have a puzzle-like pieced top made from different woods. Very cool indeed. Their prices seem to be very reasonable considering the specs.

    Surf's up Dudes !

Those Surfcasters are some pretty cool guitars, but I remember the necks being really skinny too. Jackson had their own versions too and I even remember seeing some with Floyd's and humbuckers. Nice score!

What strings are on Edwards Guitars

I don't know what they are either, but they lasted for a surprisingly long time on mine. They were wayyy light for me, but at the time I didn't see a point in shelling out money for new strings until the originals were done with. Now I have mine strung with DR Hi-beam's in 11-50 (I think...

Fujigen now making their own branded guitars?

Ok, found one of the "puzzle" (or "pazzle" as they say on here; language barrier issue i suspect :)) designed Fujigens on Digimart: http://www.digimart.net/gk_detail.do?instrument_id=DS00203196 More pics here: http://www.j-guitar.com/sp/sea/view_detail.cgi?pid=10650173 It reminds me a bit of...

Fujigen now making their own branded guitars?

I've been eyeing up some current Fujigens lately & certainly wouldn't mind picking up a GF-FH6 (basically a semi-hollow PRS/336'ish type). Ikebe usually has some nice ones on display on their website: http://www.ikebe-gakki.com/shopping_20.php?state=1&cate=1&s_cate=1&brand=79 One of them even...

    Edwards/Navigater Questions...

I agree that there is no "inferior" wood used in my Edwards at all. I think a lot of the wood "grading" has been blown out of proportion by the custom guitar market which has seeped into the rest of the guitar market. You'll have guys who will shell out an extra $2k for a Historic LP with a...

    Edwards/Navigater Questions...

Just what joukov said. The Edwards woods may be nice, solid pieces of wood, but they're not going to be the cream of the crop. It takes a builder time to inspect and select top quality woods which usually are hard to come by. Honduras mahogany is what most Gibby LP's are made from (at least...

Edwards Jimmy Page Les Paul questions

Yeah, JP's #1, which this guitar is basically modeled after, has (or at least had) a set of gold Grover tuners on it. I don't particularly care for the look of the brand new shiny gold Gotoh's on my relic'd Edwards Page and may one day change 'em out for some locking Klusons if I decide to keep...

    Edwards/Navigater Questions...

The Navigator LP's have fret edge binding from what I understand and are all-lacquer finish whereas the Edwards LT's ("Lacquer Taste") are a poly base with a lacquer top finish. I have one of the Page models and it feels just like an all-nitro finished guitar so I have no beef there. The...

    Fender Japan ST-54 83DCM

Fender Japan is kinda funny in that they have what is basically their "standard" line of guitars which are usually listed on their site, but they also make a LOT of different "unique" non-standard models as well. Ishibashi usually just has the "standard" guitars listed on their site so it could...

Special runs from Greco, Burny, Fernandes?

I've seen special runs done for various Japanese music stores (Ikebe, Ishibashi, Big Boss, et cetera) which, while not exactly what you're getting at, is similar in concept. Fender does it here in the US with their "FSR" guitars which usually go to places like Guitar Center, Sam Ash, Musicians...

    Edwards - question

As far as I can tell it's more or less just a "fancy" version of a LP Custom: "burl" maple top (probably veneer), abalone purfling around the body/fingerboard/headstock, fancier fingerboard inlays, and transparent colors. Otherwise I don't see much different compared to the regular Custom versions.

Got my new Edwards Les Paul today!!!!

Glad to see it arrived in great shape (no real surprise though) and great to see that you're digging it. :) I don't know what the stock strings are, but at least on my Pagey they were actually quite nice and lasted for a loooong time. Definitely on the skinny side for me though so now I have...
