Oh yes! Both very nice, I particularly like the blue on that Strat.

I'm much more of a Strat man, but I wanted to say how beautiful those guitars are. Hope you're enjoying the new one!

    Tokai Goldstar Scratchplate Replacement Dilemma

I have an ST55 Goldstar and in a fit of foolishness I replaced the original white scratchplate (8-hole, by the way) with a black one: I can't remember the name of the manufacturer, but it wasn't Fender. It fit perfectly. So, subject to correction by others, I'd say you shouldn't have any problem...

Many years a member, first Tokai impressions.

Nice guitar, Deadman. Similar to my ST40 (below). Though I did swap the original pickups for Wilkinsons, which I found gave me a tone closer to what I wanted. Incidentally, the neck on mine is definitely on the beefy side, especially when compared to those on my ST50 and ST55. How is the neck on...

    Goldstar plastic

Many thanks, ampmaker, for the comments and the advice re posting photos. I was amused that you'd chosen the pic of the mice feeding for the second example: I never thought I'd see that one on the Tokai forum!

    Goldstar plastic

A little while ago, I mentioned here that I'd finally found the original scratchplate, pickup covers, volume/tone controls and selector switch for my mid-80s ST55 Goldstar; and also that I was surprised at how dark yellow/cream the controls had become. I posted a link to a pic of the guitar with...

    Goldstar help

Hi Suki, since I'm only an occasional poster here this might sound presumptuous, but anyway: welcome! I can't help with your specific enquiry, but I'm sure I'm not the only one who'd like to see some pics of your Goldies.

    ST40 How it should look

Hi, there was a thread not long ago about another member's ST40, which led to some discussion as to whether genuine ST40 machine-heads were six-sided or five-sided. The matter was never resolved, but as I mention in that thread I have an ST40 which, like yours, features the five-sided variety...

    Dark yellow volume/tone controls

    Some very lovely-looking guitars here!

    Dark yellow volume/tone controls

That's the look I'd have preferred for my Goldie, to be honest, i.e. the appearance of consistent ageing.

    Dark yellow volume/tone controls

Thanks, Iain - I think I understand your comment about it being right but not right! And Tokai sourcing plastics from different suppliers might well explain the inconsistencies. Thanks, too, for your tip re the book.
